HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 17 November 2019 Posted 17 November 2019 Hi Guys, I have a simple question that I have been trying to find out an answer for online and can’t seem to find anything. Thought someone on here may know before I join a watch forum. Anyway, inside a watch, on the outside of the balance wheel, there is usually a part that moves and it can point to an ‘F’ or ‘S’ and a ‘A’ or ‘R’. What do these letters represent and what is this switch for? Any info is gratefully received. Thanks

fuchsntf Posted 17 November 2019 Posted 17 November 2019 Its the simple language of the Watch maker...Fast & Slow....Avance & Retard. For Swiss and German,also have N & V.... Basic regulators to make the Watch go slightly Faster or slower. For Timing Balance various Watchmakers use sometimes different name regulators....
