I did this several years ago, switched back at the first available opportunity.

I think they're using the BT OpenReach network for coverage so should be a bit more reliable.

All adsl lines use the openreach network.

I did it about a year ago and I’m surprised how good it is. 
 

Got the fibre max and get a constant 72Mbps.

 

Had a few problems with Virgin strangling the 100Mbps down to about 3, which is why I changed.

Sky Broadband is absolutely horrendous. To the point where ive paid for my own internet connection in my bedroom.

 

My bedroom is downstairs so its right next to the Sky router and my download/upload speed was just shocking. I've tried boosters, moving the router etc and my speed on my PS4 was always awful. Even hardwiring it didn't improve the situation.

 

Got Virgin and put it in my bedroom and never looked back.

Speeds are fine. Although it very often drops out on my phone and coverage house wide can be an issue at times. Which makes trying to work from home in the dining room a pain sometimes. 

 

Maybe worth looking at boosters if you suffer the same issues.
