Sonja Gerhadt

Sonja Gerhardt - for all those Googling her. Gerhadt just doesn't sound German.

That stated, one couldn't mistake her as having roots anywhere else than in northern Germany.

This is the difference between beautiful and pretty. And I still can't decide which Rachel is - after ten+ years.

She was rapping on Countdown this week. Surreal.

Glad you mentioned Countdown.

Birds off the telly thread, innit?

Well...I believed Anne Robinson had been repatriated to Transylvania to retire and spend eternity frightening children, peasants and TV execs.

But now she's emerged on fooking Countdown - looking like a body double for Meryl Streep in the last frames of 'Death Becomes Her'.

I'll not post a photo - wouldn't put you through that.

She's also an obnoxious woman who thinks highly of herself. Put me right off watching it tbh.

I've been watching Countdown regularly since it began - think it was the first programme ever shown on C4 in 1982 (after a tantalising few weeks of just a test card). I've now stopped watching it because of Anne Robinson.

Me too. I could cope with Nick Hewer, but Robinson looks and speaks as if she's had permanent Botox treatment to the whole of her face.

Very opinionated and not at all friendly - in fact, somewhat repugnant.

I did enjoy the style of the guy who subbed for Hewer when he was isolated.

And, of course, Rachel remains the prettiest woman on TV - although some of the stuff they dress her in, especially with the bump, is not easy on the eye - in fact quite uneasy on the eye

The producers have made a dire choice there. I wonder how long it'll be before they catch on that she's not 'user-friendly'.

Side issue to fanciable birds, but I also remember waiting eagerly to see the C4 kick off with countdown.

Paul Hogan (pre crocodile dundee) and The Munsters were also on..

Sad really that I can remember so much detail

The only other notable programme they showed on that first day (a Thursday methinks) was Treasure Hunt. What a bonkers prog that was, but great if you enjoyed watching Anneka Rice leaping in and out of helicopters, and were an admirer of her bum. Kenneth Kendall controlled things from the studio. Happy days!
