Amartey’s had two good games in about three years but some seem surprised he’s not on the list?!

He’s not in the plans and I would imagine he was just a stop-gap until we got Fofana over the line.

A back three will be Evans, Fofana and Soyuncu with Morgan, Fuchs and Justin as back up options. Ndidi will be the crisis option. A formation needing just two centre halves makes it even less of a problem.

Yes because he has been rehabilitating from an almost career ending injury for most of that time. BR has said he was definitely in his plans.  From a squad point of view he is a useful utility player who can fill in at RB CB or DM. OK he is a bit of a jack of all trades but sometimes you need that as back up.

Gray not being included speaks volumes about our confidence in him.

Shame not to see Luke Thomas not involved but those positions are heavily covered luckily, with Ricardo coming back. Hope we'll see him involved in the PL at some point.

Brilliant to see KDH included too. Really want to see more of him.

He must have done more than be on his way... he’s not gone he’s still here... must have upset the boss?

Pulling up trees before that injury, was he?

There were stories last season that he’d been told he was free to find another club. Rodgers isn’t going to say he’s not in the plans when specifically asked or when he doesn’t have another option through the door.

Fofana is in now and when Ricardo is back Amartey will likely be 4th choice at right back and 5th or 6th choice at centre back. This omission won’t be injury-related. He’s dispensable.

Wilf is in but will miss all games due to his injury. Would it not have been better to free up a space for someone else?

Surprised there's no Gray, just in case.

Would have been better to use Wilf's spot for Gray instead.

If there is a possibility Wilf is ready for the last game or two, he should be in the squad.

If we are playing AEK in the last game and we need a point or three to win the group and Ndidi is fit then he needs to play.

Alternatively, if we have already won the group at this stage, it could be a great way to ease him back in and get some minutes under his belt.

Our best 24 players are in the squad and they should be. Grey is now 4th possibly 5th choice winger at the club. If it came to the point where Barnes, Under and Perez were all unavailable, we might be better throwing a youngster in, or moving one of the full backs further forward.

It can only mean that Wilf's prognosis has likely changed, because if he was going to be out for "at least" (to use Rodgers exact words) 12 weeks as previously diagnosed, there is no way he would be back and match fit for the group stages, and we would have essentially been wasting one spot. So one can only presume that this is good news.
