Am I right in thinking, as Wilf is on the A list, if we come to a game and he is injured, we can replace him with someone from our B list?

The B list is just a list of eligible U21s. They can all be named in the team just like a senior player in the same way it works in the Premier League.

So, if we've got lots of injuries we can always name someone like Leshabela or Thomas in the squad for a game, for example.

That's a big FU to Gray to be quite honest. Probably enough cover at centre mid, didn't NEED to put KDH in, regardless of Wilf injury.

Gray couldn't have took KDH's spot anyway - the club have chosen their maximum of 21 non-club trained players. He could've took Ndidi's place, I'll grant you.

Yes. The B list is just u21 home-grown players.

Gray not being included speaks volumes about our confidence in him.

Shame not to see Luke Thomas not involved but those positions are heavily covered luckily, with Ricardo coming back. Hope we'll see him involved in the PL at some point.

Brilliant to see KDH included too. Really want to see more of him.

Does Thomas need to be named in the squad as under 21 and from the academy

It occurs to me that it might be a two way thing with Gray. I seem to remember he did a lot of moaning about not being selected in 2016/17 even though the two wide players ahead of him had just won the Premier League.

The grumblings continued, but seem to die down over time and he was given plenty of opportunities to establish himself as first choice. It hasn’t really happened.

I get the feeling that with one year left on his contract, still not being first choice (despite sometimes misplaced confidence in his own ability) and with ease of move in mind he’s decided to let his contract run down. The club have probably looked at it and decided not to invest any more in him if he isn’t part of our future.

A shame given his talent, but if he was half the player he seemed to imply he was he’d be the first name on the team sheet. Still a better player on social media than he’s ever shown on the pitch.

My other observation on this is: are we allowed to hope that N’didi’s injury isn’t as bad as it might have been?

It seems strange to include him if he has no chance of playing any of the matches

I read somewhere that wilfs  operation went well so I can only assume that means he’s going to be closer to the 6 weeks out than the 12 they stayed to begin with.

We can only hope. I love Papy, but I don't think he has the underlying fitness to play match after match like Wilf seems to.

Even if we'd taken KDH out we'd have to leave a space 'free' for 'Leicester developed players'

There HAS to be either 4 of those selected or as many as possible selected plus space left in lieu of the extras.

That's why we have a 24 man squad and not a 25 man squad.

The only way you can fit Gray in is at the expense of either a foreign player or one of our homegrown (trained in England) contingent and clearly BR would rather have Morgan in for CB cover given Amarteys injury.

Sorry didn't spot you'd corrected @Finnegan already

Yep sorry chaps. Gray had been here so long I'd thought we'd had him long enough for him to qualify as developed at the club but you forget he wasn't THAT young when he arrived.

I find it very disappointing that we are only able to name 24 players. Surely some sort of error from management & also how poor our academy really is, or perhaps we should have sold someone else instead of Chilly

Not really. Academy players don't technically have to be registered because they are U21 and club-trained. It leaves us with flexibility to choose from whoever's needed in a certain position.

It's not an error or a reflection on our academy.

Chilwell wanted to leave and we got good money for him. Doesn't make sense keeping a player who doesn't want to be here (unless they're of serious quality like Mahrez).

Amartey’s had two good games in about three years but some seem surprised he’s not on the list?!

He’s not in the plans and I would imagine he was just a stop-gap until we got Fofana over the line.

A back three will be Evans, Fofana and Soyuncu with Morgan, Fuchs and Justin as back up options. Ndidi will be the crisis option. A formation needing just two centre halves makes it even less of a problem.
