Same thing happened to Chilly. Crowds have a collective mentality - only takes one or two to begin the bullying and, if the mood is there, others will join in.

A supporter's 'job' is to keep rallying the team - not to weaken it by isolating one of the its members by booing.

I'm not even sure it's appropriate to boo opposition players (except if they're dirty b'stards of course).

some supporters arent   even consistent  when booing playerswho have left ieChilwell  and not others ie Kante

I’m sorry but you couldn’t have been a Leicester fan for very long if you think this a new trend !! Even at filbert st our own players use to get booed all the time. Sheff Utd at home in 1996 stick in the memory. I’ve seen people fighting in the stands at Stoke under craig levein about Jordan Stewart being booed by pretty much the whole away end it definitely isn’t a new trend.

Yeah I remember fans under O'Neill giving abuse to some of our players. Guppy and Keller stick out.

STH behind me (Carling Stand lower) used to slag Guppy every game.

Utterly baffling.

He must've had a twin in the Carling Stand upper tier. Used to complain about "gutless Guppy" every game, ignoring the fact he was one of the best crossers from open play in the entire league.

I think people boo not for lack of ability but for perceived lack of effort. Until Kelechi got up to speed some of his early games really did seem like he wasn't bothered about the outcome of a game. Can remember being very frustrated at his lack of effort for challenges or chasing.

Disgraceful - I remember him coming on against Everton the season before last and I was the only one around me who clapped him on. A load boo'ed

You should never boo your own player on to the pitch.

If you suspect a player is not trying, wants away etc or has done something disgraceful then I can just about appreciate giving him a mouthful but not when the lad was clearly trying but having a torrid time

I witnessed this exact same thing a few years back. A bloke two rows in front took every opportunity to single out one of our players for barracking. The lad was playing well enough, yet the a**ehole in front would not let up.

I think some 'supporters' come to matches to release all the frustration and bile they've built up at their job or home all week and target someone familiar for their abuse - but why not someone on the opposition side?

As you state - utterly baffling.

He really should have been warned. It ruins the game for those around.

This may be the case and it did seem like that but sometimes players are instructed to stay in a particular zone, FBs not to venture upfield, forwards to stay up front. The problem fans have they have no idea what the manager may have instructed them to do. When it comes to 'new' players they may be carryon their previous clubs instructions or they may have a style of play that they'll need to adapt, This is why they should always be given time before being written off after 90mins

I guess this has been Under's problem perhaps he's not shown Rodgers his ability/willingness to change.

Our fans were an absolute embarrassment that season.

On the night Vichai died against West Ham, we reacted to a 1-1 draw like we'd been relegated to League One again. Then even worse, in the wake of the tragedy it'd only take a few months to boo them off after losing 1-0 to a Man United team on fire. Iheanacho and Ghezzal were booed onto the pitch every time. Delighted for Kelechi that he's proved those dickheads wrong.
