Update!

This morning I have secured myself a room in a shared accommodation less than a 20 minute walk away from my workplace and train station so I can see my kids. Thanks to the unbelievable generosity on here I've been able to put down a deposit and pay a few weeks rent to see me through until payday.

I know I've said it already but thank you all so much for helping me to carry on

Great news mate! Well done.

Good for you; now keep hold of that positivity and go and grasp life by the horns (from a safe two metre distance).

Life can be unfairly cruel, and place one in a position of hopelessness, but this could happen to any one of us. Never give up, and never lose your pride. Have faith, and walk tall. Something will turn up, so please, please, have faith, and try to be positive, and don't feel ashamed to accept help from others.

God bless you

Great words.

There's a time that we all need help.

I saw something on TV the other day and a Police Officer said "It's scary to think we're one paycheck away from being homeless, I know I am."

Genuine people should never be ashamed to say "You know what, I'm screwed, I need a hand"

You take the help, get back on your feet and pay it forward.

So pleased to be part of this community.

Yes thanks mate. Moved into a room in a shared accommodation place. Not far from work and close to the train station so I can see the kids. Still feel a bit fragile but slowly building myself back up.

How's the new place? I hope you're OK, let us know how you're getting on now

Thank you Deb!

Not gonna lie the life of shared accommodation is going to take some getting used to! I'm trying to spend as much time at work as possible at the moment. Mainly to earn enough money to eventually start renting a place of my own but also just to not spend time there.

Still in a far better place than I was last week though so not complaining.  Thank you for asking

Goes without saying but try to maintain a healthy diet.

I spent a few months in shared accomodation and as a very private person I found it incredibly hard to get used to. Two tips (1) buy some decent headphones. It helped me completely switch off and often feel like I was in my own space and (2) try to embrace it. I was alot happier a couple of months in, when I  finally started to just pretend I was in a sitcom and I actually talked to the crazy lady who always moaned at me about using the wrong type of dishcloth and I tried to talk to the even crazier guy who refused to speak a word to me. I actually quite enjoyed it 😆

Good luck with it, it's the first step on your journey
