Justin is scheduled back for training next month but that'll only be the beginning of his recovery, and maybe the plan is to ease him in here as opposed to travelling to Europe like we did with Ricardo. 

I know we have to pick fit players over those coming back from long term injury but a part of me can’t help but feel a little gutted for JJ.

I expect Nelson, Maswanhise, and Fitzhugh to at least make the bench in this; might even see some action if there is a dead rubber (I realize a true dead rubber is less likely this year, due to how the knockout stages are being done.)

Might be the same as last season where he rotated the youth players on the bench for a few of the games, just to get them that experience

@Ric Flair has been hyping him up since he was just out of nappies! From the few videos I've seen he's got bags of talen and can regularly be seen embarassing lads that are years older than him. Just a case of honing that talent and making sure he realises his potential. Would be cracking to see him in and around the first team this season.

Ridiculous but I've absolutely no idea if his skillset is suitable to mens senior football. He will be messing with fellas livelihoods and they won't take kind to that. 

 

I've never seen him live, he's come on the scene during the pandemic but he's barely 16 and now in our U23's which is pretty much unheard of for us.

Ah, I’ve heard his name banded around but like you say I’ve not seen him play. Well Rodgers likes academy players, so as soon as he thinks he is ready we may see him?

There were rumblings he wasn't happy last season as although he was only 15 he'd not been featuring for the U18's. Rudkin allegedly has got involved as the club don't want another Tavares situation even though the contract situation is different at his age anyway. Seems many promises have had to be made about his career plan, I'd be surprised if he isn't playing some form of first team football within 18 months and hopefully with us rather than on loan.

That’s the thing.

 

Such is the pressure to succeed younger players know that they have to make an impact from a young age, Rooney and Ronaldo showcasing why. But in the same breath clubs need to ensure they don’t compromise their goals by playing players to satisfy their ambitions.

 

Now that we’ve pumped the money into the training ground and the academy I want to see more academy players given a chance, we don’t want another Taveres, if the lads natural ability is as good as anyone in the first team they need to be played in some form, other wise they won’t develop and they will stagnate like many of the “wonder kids” that have ended up rotting at top clubs because they can’t play them because they lack experience. 
 

plus if Barnes continues to improve, Thomas continues to improve KDH settles and improves and other academy players do the same, we could be sitting on a gold mine.
