https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection#tests-for-covid-19

Testing after your isolation period has ended

If you have tested positive by PCR for COVID-19, you will probably have developed some immunity to the disease. However, it cannot be guaranteed that everyone will develop immunity, or how long it will last. It is possible for PCR tests to remain positive for some time after COVID-19 infection.

If you have previously received a positive COVID-19 PCRtest result, you are not usually advised to be re-tested within 90 days of this result. However, you should have a PCR test within 90 days of a previous positive PCRtest if:

  • you develop any new symptoms of COVID-19
  • you are a close contact of someone who has been identified as a suspected or confirmed case of the Omicron variant of COVID-19
  • you are required to take a PCR test upon entry into the UK

If you are tested within 90 days of a positive PCR test result for any of these 3 reasons, and the PCR test result is positive, you must stay at home, self-isolate and follow the steps in this guidance again.

Oh only if you have new symptoms, a close contact, or the PCR you have to do when returning to England anyway

The worry for me is I do that PCR; I’m bound to come back positive and therefore have ten days self isolation again when I’m not infectious

Will the Newcastle game go ahead, the players will need to self isolate when they get back until they get a -ve result from a PCR test, there is nothing in the new guidelines about elite sports people being exempt. Lets face it this is becoming a right shambles by bumbling Boris and his cronies.

No problem for the Newcastle game. The players will pcr test upon landing and be at the training ground Friday morning ready for Newcastle. Unless of course they test positive…

I didn't think you need to isolate if double jabbed unless you start showing symptoms. Ignoring the new requirement to isolate anyway until result comes back.

Correct, I was advised to get PCR. as I was classed as close contact of someone (assume on the plane as I don't have the bluetooth enabled on the app, however I was on a row to myself and I suspect it was a positive case on the plane).

However, if the person testing has the new variant (and that's why they are now demanding PCR so they can sequence the sample) you have to isolate for 10 days regardless.

Its a risk to take that going for 2 days for the game may end up in 10 days isolation regardless of your negative PCR day 2 test!

This is my problem,  finished self isolation last Thursday

My missus was in hospital a few months ago, they tested her despite being told of her positive test 4 weeks before, came back positive, loads of calls from Test&Trace, told them that she had tested positive recently and shouldnt have been tested anyway.

Eventually they understood and left us alone!

I'd bet you will return a positive result.

But if the contact has the new variant you have to isolate anyway, regardless of vaccine status.

Yep pretty sure my result would be positive, work wont pay me for a second period of self isolation (and wouldn't be happy about the time off as well)......so I'm going to have to drop out unfortunately :(

Cheapest Day 2 PCR Tests I have been able to find so far seem to be these - £48 a test

These are such a con, those who provide them loving the announcement from Boris

https://www.testingforall.org/product/day-2-pcr-test/

*Going to hold off on getting these myself for now as they have found the variant in Italy, get the feeling this isn't gonna happen

On my recent trip to Leicester I booked through boots for £21!

It arrives to your address within 2 days but I was already back in Italy the day it arrived at my hotel. A 48hr test costs 20€ here in Rome and only takes about 20minutes to do it. I had no problems entering the UK with this however I do have the vaccine/EU COVID pass

Do we just use the NHS app for our covid pass / green pass or do we have to download another app?

NHS app with the QR code should work fine! I would also suggest everyone to have a print out.

Definitely, there was the outage a few weeks back that shafted people.

I’m not sure if it’s everywhere but in Italy I always have problems with the phone reception and opening apps at the stadiums! Probably just so many people together in such a small place.

So they tripled the price because the requirement changed from Day 2 LTF back to PCR? That's absolutely outrageous.

It’s almost like someone on government is being paid a salary by these companies.

Thought Boots might be a bit more wholesome than that

Has anyone who is doing the bus trip from Rome received email confirmation of their purchase? I ordered on Saturday and have had the money out of my account but still no email confirmation?
