I used the DSB app which was pretty straight forward. I’d have hoped they’d have said certain tickets were only for Danish residents in the breakdown of each ticket. Didn’t need a CPR number for purchase either.

I booked an orange ticket for the train after the one you guys are on. 

 

I will just show them the blurb on the ticket description if anyone kicks off, which they won't.

What's the football culture like in Aarhus btw? I presume they have their own club who may be rivals with Randers. Are there likely to be many people who support Randers in Aarhus? What sort of welcome can City fans expect?

Barry’s looks bloody awful but apparently it’s Randers best bar.

Ok, so I'm a bit bored at work, so here's a bit of info for those of you staying in Aarhus. For everyone in Randers, sorry, I don't know the city that much other than that it's a bit dull 

 

Recommendations in Aarhus:

 

Where to drink:

 

- Mig og Ølsnedkeren. Lovely little craft beer bar where there’s always a tasty selection on tap. I'm properly into craft beer and I love this place.

- ÅBEN. Another craft beer bar, but a bit different than the first. Very Nordic. Decent selection of beers and nice girls. 

- Golden Lion. Classic English pub. The only place in town I was able to watch LCFC games back in the Championship days, so I have a soft spot for it even though it is a bit rough these days.

- Peter Gift. Small pub right near the WakeUp hotel where I imagine many of you will be staying. It's a decent little spot. 

- Tir Na Nog. Biggest Irish pub in town. They show all kinds of sports and offer a decent selection of pints and whisky. 
- La Cabra. Best coffee in town! At night, it turns into a bar where you can get natural wine, lambic beers etc. 

- Again, regarding craft beer, if you want a few delicious tins for the hotel or whatnot, head to Væskebalancen, Erlings Flaskebutik, or TidensFarver. If you're into your standard Tuborgs, you'll get a six-pack for around 35-40 DKK at every supermarket. 
 

Where to eat:

 

- Aarhus Street Food. Don’t be scared off by the name - it’s indoors. Great selection of food and decent little beer and cocktail places. Easy option if you’re not sure what you want or if you want a little bit of everything.
- Il Locale. Best pizza in town imo. 

- Burger Shack. Great burger joint located just opposite the aforementioned Tir Na Nog. 
- Rådhuscafeen. The place to go if you want some classic Danish dishes. May need to book in advance. Great location in the centre of town. 
- Can Blau. Great tapas option. Quite pricy though. 

- Domestic. If you want to go all in and eat 12 tiny dishes and fork out your life savings!
 

What to do:

 

- AROS. Excellent art museum with a great view of the city from the rainbow on the roof.

- Den Gamle By. A glimpse into historical Aarhus, if you’re into that kind of stuff. 
- Dyrehaven. A little walk out of town, but once you’re there it’s worth it. Basically just a park where deer roam freely. It can be a nice experience for couples and families alike. It’s free too. 
- Aarhus Ø. This is the new “trendy” area of the town, located by the harbour. I’ve not been much myself, since I live in the outskirts of Aarhus now, but it’s supposed to be good. 
- Latinerkvarteret. Nice area in the town centre with a bunch of charming little shops and cafes incl. the aforementioned ÅBEN and La Cabra. 

 

Good to know: 

 

- As of February 1st, there are no more COVID restrictions in Denmark. I believe we're the first country in the EU to lift restrictions. No masks, no "corona passports", and all the freedom in the world to hug and kiss people. 

- Trains to Randers take about 30 minutes and shouldn't be any trouble on matchday. Trains will likely not be packed, but obviously depends on when you travel. People in Aarhus do not support Randers, so can't imagine there will be football fans. 

- On that note, the local sports team is AGF. They play in the top Danish league. On the Friday after the Randers match, they have an away match against Vejle (45 mins away by train). Getting away tickets in Denmark is much easier than in the UK, so I imagine some of you could go to that if you want more football. 

- Don't expect trouble. Everyone in Aarhus will welcome the Leicester fans and I expect it'll be the same in Randers, too. I'll imagine journalists will be out in force in Randers to interview you for local newspapers. Leicester coming Randers is a massive deal over here. 

 

I think that's about everything for now. Just PM me if you need any info. Also, I'd love to meet up with you all either on the Wednesday or Thursday Leicester fans will probably never be in my town again, so I wanna make the most of it! Have a great trip, everybody.

Yes. I need to go to Randers (for ticket pick up) then onto Aarhus (hotel check in) then back to Randers (for the match) though!
