Mouat might feel a bit annoyed at his teammates here - pretty much every end by the time he's putting his stones down he's having to do damage limitation.

The Swedish team is playing superbly, though.

Shame it’s probably going to end in defeat simply because Sweden have the hammer but guess that is the nature of sport.

Was a great shot by both teams in the last end.

...would it be cruel to say that Mouat choked on that last shot, with either selection or execution?

Not to be.

Even during the time out I don't think he fancied it

I don’t really understand the tactics of curling.
Can anyone tell me why they didn’t remove Swedens scoring stone earlier rather than leave it until the end ?

Sweden had the last stone. So they would have knocked each other out until Sweden won.

They had to find a way of leaving their stone in the middle but protected to stop Sweden having an easy hammer.

Or something like that anyway

They needed stones in the house if they were going to steal against the hammer and that red could have been handy to use to rest on I think.

Could be totally wrong though lol

They sound absolutely gutted in the post-match.

That might not be a bad thing, shows how much they want to win and could bring them back stronger in four years - young squad, after all.

World Championships soon too this year to win.

I believe the tactic was for us to knock their red out of the scoring position with our last stone, but freeze against it so they would have to take out both our stone and theirs, leaving our other stone as the closest. It was always going to be difficult to win the extra end with them having the hammer, but we at least made it competitive

And they've done it!

To think of where they stood with a couple of matches to play in the group stages. Just grew into the tournament as it went on and they just looked unstoppable today. Well done ladies!

Brilliant game by Eve. She kept plugging away, and finally has gotten the ultimate reward.

I’ve gotta tip my cap to the RCCC/Team GB, they did a phenomenal job of putting their teams together for Beijing.
