Strokes Posted 1 March 2022 Posted 1 March 2022 If we could get Chelsea to pay for Soyunchu and also get this lad in the process. This will eclipse the deal for Drinkwater. 2
Xen Posted 10 March 2022 Posted 10 March 2022 Imagine any prospect of this happening is now null and void whilst the sanctions on Chelsea remain. Contract until 2025 apparently so he won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Of course, if the club is sold swiftly that might not be in effect by that point. Although with Rudiger, Azpilicueta and Christensen all likely to leave, he would probably fancy his chances at a first XI spot next season. Will be interesting to see how this one plays out... 1

I'd say it makes it more likely, without Abramovic's money they'll need to raise funds from player sales.

It's going to be a strange one - are they even going to be able to pay their playing staff by the summer? Could be a potential scenario where they go into admin. You'd think there are likely still negotiations going on to sell the club behind the scenes, and the treasury will allow it to go through provided that Abramovich doesn't benefit from the sale.

I thought at the time that the question of sanctions against a club raises some interesting challenges on matters of players’ rights, restraints of trade etc as well as The governing bodies’ rules . it may or may not be an unintended consequence that the club are constrained from making proposals to these 3 players to renew their contracts and see £80 million of playing assets simply leave the club for free. Also what would be the position if a player requests a transfer ? If the club and the player are both happy to let someone move to another club the sanctions would appear to militate against this if a fee is involved
