Not my day, but good to get the first one in the bag. 179 average HR was not comfortable.

The fact you've held a half marra at that heart rate is impressive, i'd have about snuffed it. Shows you've got the engine to do some massive improvements as well.

Feel like Martin wheeling this out but I think I've had an underlying illness for a little while, coupled with the fact I naturally have quite a high heart rate it was always going to be sky high today.

Need to do a lot of work at easier efforts over the winter I think!

I’m in a whole world of pain this morning, pushing that hard triggers my asthma which isn’t ideal.

Does anyone else really struggle with their stomach and not being able to eat properly after running hard? I’ve had it a few times where I’ve been starving but can’t eat.

Yeah, I presume its the stomach taking an absolute battering from the momentum of running and gels ain't great I imagine. They serve an important purpose but it comes at a cost.

Plus there's a reduced blood flow to the digestive tract as your body is pritoritising the working muscles.

Never had stomach pain after easy running, but it's pretty common for me to have a stomach pain after very hard efforts. It's annoying.

Yeah I was going to say this, I take gels all the time and am fine but after my marathon and now this I’ve not been able to eat after.

Genuinely found a cure last night though, Guiness. Proper miracle stuff cleared it in one mouthful.

Rugby in 2 weeks mate.

Steady!!!  A bit soon I feel, maybe early Jan…. Did a bit of research and there is a Loughborough HM in Feb I believe….

I like running on my own, but also really respond to having a target/ something to train for…

How much would you experienced chaps expect to run "on top" of the official distance for a half? My watch clocked me at 21.33k, so 240m over. Is that about expected or have I just been very inefficient with my lines?

Thats about normal and sometimes its as much GPS being a bit erratic than running more because you've gone zig zagging.

I must’ve been zigzagging all over the shop as my Garmin had me at 21.50!

My time was 2h28 on the chip but my Garmin HM had me as 2h26

so, I’m taking it!!
