Jimmy Posted 26 November 2005 Posted 26 November 2005 Douglas 6 steady enough should of held onto the ball for their second! Maybury 7 solid defensivly far better going forward. Paddy mac 7 solid dependable, just plain paddy Paddy G 7 as above Nils 6 got caught out a few times but solid enough Sylla 7 some good touches but not always an end product Kisnorbo 8 best i've seen him play Joey G 7 some good play harshly booked Smith 9 always a thret, lets hope reading put the arse out so he can play weds Hume 9 great touches to well taken goals and a well deserved rest on weds Hammond 8 if he finished better a hat-trick was his, coaught offside wrongly a few times subs both a 6 came on and did what was needed
Guest Gist Posted 26 November 2005 Posted 26 November 2005 Douglas 6 Maybury 7 back to his better ways today McCarthy 7 Brilliant! Gerrbrand 7 Briliant! Johansson 7 Thought he wouldnt mange today looking at how fast some of there players are but played well Sylla 7 At times messed about with the ball a bit too much but looked more involved and determined Joey 8 Fantastic again his work rate was amazing Kinorbo 7 Best ive seen him play less mistakes and won the ball more Smith 8 say no more! Hammond 7 would give him ten for his determination but was offside a few times and needs to improve his finishing Hume 8 why has he been sub! 2 great goals and good work rate
Mark Posted 26 November 2005 Posted 26 November 2005 Douglas 6 - Pulled off some good saves today, but seems to throw the ball too far ahead of the player when throwing out. Maybury 7 - Much much better, looked to get forward a hell of a lot more than he has done this season. Stupid in the first half when he could have got sent off. McCarthy - 7 - Some dodgy moments in the first off when he attempted to clear the ball but it actually put us in more danger, solid game though. Gerrbrand - 7 - Same as McCarthy, couple of dodgy moments but solid. Johansson - 6 - A little better going forward, didn't really stand a chance when Sheff Utd put 3 fast strikers on, got past him no end of times. Sylla 7 - Good in parts, awful in others, especially towards the end of the game kept giving the ball away. Kisnorbo - 7 - At least he was better, i don't think i've not seen him complete a forward pass though yet. Gudjonsson - 9 - Joey was brilliant again, easily the most improved player this season. I wish he'd have shot instead of playing Hammond in though at 2-1. Smith 10 - Phenomenal, a joy to watch him playing for us, but even better to see him enjoying it. I love him. Hume 9 - Tremondous workrate, two brilliant finishs. Why on earth have we hardly seen him since we signed him? Hammond 8 Tremoudous workrate, never stopped running. I was impressed with his hold up play today. Also had a hand in Humes first goal. Subs: Hamill - 6 De Vries - 5
The People's Hero Posted 26 November 2005 Posted 26 November 2005 Can't do the ratings as I wasn't there... but for those that were.. how good was Smith today? Sounds like he had a hand in a lot of the positive things that we achieved today.
Thracian Posted 26 November 2005 Posted 26 November 2005 Douglas 6 Maybury 7.5 McCarthy 7 Gerrbrand 7 Nils 5 Sylla 7 Kisnorbo 7.5 Joey 8 Smith 9.5 Hume 9.5 Hammond 9.5 For different reasons Smith, Hume and Hammond were so close to a 10. Best attacking performance I've seen from City for ages. Now people might understand why I've been saying what on earth are we frightened of in this division. We could easily have scored six or seven. Well done lads.
lush Posted 26 November 2005 Posted 26 November 2005 Douglas 6 did enough Maybury 7 solid defensivly far better going forward. Gerrbrand 7 did enough, and amazingly had a younger less experience macarthy guiding him. Macarthy 8 showed leadership qualities. Nils 6 got caught out a few times but solid enough considering he was out of position. Sylla 7 some good touches and forced sheff back. Kisnorbo 7 best i've seen him play, but still needs to get that bamby on ice play out his game. Joey 7 some good play. Smith 7 did very well considering his injury Hume 8.5 was a constant threat to their defence, a joy to watch. Hammond 8 got me out me chair with great pace and could`ve had a hat-trick, polish them boots subs hamill 6 showed some great trickery and fell into smithy`s role very well deep freeze 5 didnt have long but held the ball well giving the others a much needed breather, a good sub. craig 7 learnt alot from this new team.
Jimmy Posted 26 November 2005 Author Posted 26 November 2005 lush u put paddy mac twice, which 1 is paddy g
TrickyTrev Posted 26 November 2005 Posted 26 November 2005 Douglas 6 Still not convinced but he made a couple of good saves. Maybury 6 Excellent going forward but atrocious defencively. Could easily have been sent off. Paddy Mac 5 Not too good today. Sliced clearneces and whlst it is nice that he is vocal, he some times really rips into the other players when it is not necesarry. One example was Gerrrband giving the ball away, we don't want to scare him off playing the ball out of defence. Paddy G 8 The lad is quality, so assured on the ball and really warming to the physicality of English football. Looks like a Premiership player to me. Nils Eric Johanson 6 Solid enough, but lack of pace is evident when he is asked to play full back. Sylla 8 One of his best performances for Leicester, beat his man oon several occaisions and found soem fine passes. Kisnorbo 7 Exactly what you want from a defencive midfielder. Combatitive and full of energy. Gudjohnson 9 His best game for Leicester. I have been the boys harshest critic but he looked full of confidence. I think he plays better as an attacking midfield player. Smith 10 The best player in the division. Hume 9 Scored two great goals and made on witha great run and cross. He must start as often as possible. Hammond 8 Another player who I have doubted who gave his best performance for City. He ran the flanks very well and always looked like creating chances with his pace. Still very raw but there is something to work with ****Subs**** Hamill 6 Did a job but you could see the gulf in class between him and Smith De Vries 7 Held the ball up well.
Sparky Posted 26 November 2005 Posted 26 November 2005 Douglas 6 Maybury 7 McCarthy 7 Gerrbrand 7 johansson 6 Sylla 6 Kisnorbo 7 Joey 8 Smith 9 Hume 9 Hammond 8 awesome performance from the boys , bring on the bolton and leeds
Tommeh Posted 26 November 2005 Posted 26 November 2005 BRILLIANT ALL ROUND DOUGLAS 7 PADDY MAC 8 SOLID PADDY G 8 SOLID MAYBURY 7- MAY NEED 2 COOL HIS TEMPER AT TIMES NILLS ERIC J 7 STIL NOT AS MUCH AS STEARMAN GOIN FORWARD- BUT SOLID SYLLA 8 BIG IMPROVEMENT SMITH 9- SIGN IM UP!!!!! Manwell Pablo Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 Douglas 6 Maybury 7.5- thought him and Sylla worked extremly well attacking, relaible and solid defending Mcarthy 7 - The lad was solid as ever, but I do remember one sliced back pass reminisent of Steven Gerrard in Euro 2004, and a couple of sliced clearnces. Cuts out the mistakes he has a great future in front of him Gerrbrand 7 - Solid looks like a quality defender, could easily hold his own at a medicore premier league side Johanson 6.5 - Out of postion, his hight helped us, not the worst peformance ive seen. Kabbas goal was made by us being ripped apart on the left hand side yet again. Sylla 7.5 - Tricks a plenty some good passing one of his better games this season. Joey- 8.5 Inspirational performance tracking back winning us the ball and going foward played some class balls down the wing, and setup Elvis for one of the easiest chances he will ever have. Kisnorbo 7 - Actually amazed, looked like a footballer for the first time since Watford away. Worked well in front of the back four. Smith 9 - Always dangerous down the left, how one assist and one goal alone warrants a 7 did well despite his Injury i'll never know. Hammond 8 - Should of been 10 though. Fantastic movement, woeful finishing until his goal. Hume 9 - Set up Smith scored to himself, his second paticularly impressing me, a real power effort into the top corner. Hammil 5 De Vries 5
Head Honcho Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 Douglas 6 Maybury 7 McCarthy 7 Gerrbrand 7 johansson 7 Sylla 7 Kisnorbo 7 Joey 8 Smith 9 Hume 9 Hammond 7 Hammond should have had a 10 had he put away his chances but had to mark him down for his appalling misses hopefully this should gear the lad's up for Bolton on Wednesday shame we wont have Ryan Smith.
Lichfieldfox. Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 Fantastic team performance My ratings: Rab Douglas 5.5 only 1 good save, a few errors with distribution esp first half Alan Maybury 6.5 looked solid and attacking, nearly lost his rag when booked otherwise a 7 Paddy McCarthy 7.0 Solid most of the game Patrik Gerrbrand 7.0 Excellent again with Paddy Nils-Eric Johanssen 6.5 Did well first half skinned alive second too often Momo Sylla 7.0 vastly better today, great skill, final ball lets him down too often Joey Gudjohnsson 8.0 team leader solid nonsense booking Partick Kisnorbo 7.0 amazed he played as dire vs Watford, best game so far for him Ryan Smith 8.5 wonderful but there's a lot more to come from this lad, needs to be better defensively Elvis Hammond 8.5 great pace skill let down by his finishing but lit up the game, more to come Iain Hume 9.5 man of the match, everywhere and ran Sheffield ragged Hamill 6.5 did well for time he was on,sure starter against Bolton De Vries 6.0 fair effort Levein 9.0 marshelled the victory Referee 4.0 a very poor display with unnecessary bookings and 2 missed penalties
Scow Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 Douglas - 6 Still very unconvincing on set pieces. Maybury - 8 He was certainly back to his best with that performance. Very good defensively and excellent going forward. Great bit of play in the second half where he twice cut across players to race along the byeline. McCarthy - 8 Dealt with Pericard and Webber well for the majority. Seems to be improving with every game. Less of the blatant grabbing, which held him back at the start of the season. Gerrbrand - 8 Forming a very promising partnership with McCarthy. They seem to suit each other well with their respective playing styles. Gerrbrand offers the cool, composed style, which is complimented by McCarthy's aggressive, passionate style. Johansson - 5 Decent first half performance, but exposed cruelly in the second. The introduction of Kabba and their right back pushing forward left Johansson facing a 2 on 1 battle. Saying that, Johansson's narrow positioning didn't help. He is just too slow to play at left back. Sylla - 7 He did some fantastic things, but remains frustrating. Alan Wright struggled to contain him throughout and obviously had the advantage in the air. Sometimes a little lazy in helping either Maybury or Johansson defend. Kisnorbo - 6 A better game from him, but his distribution is still dodgy. His all action style of getting about the pitch and attempting to break attacks up left the back 4 exposed on a number of occasions in the second half as he was caught out of position. He doesn't really have the ability or the footballing brain to play that position. Gudjonsson - 9 I thought he was superb. Seemed to be at the heart of everything in midfield and provided a threat going forward. What an improvement on last season. Smith - 9 Just shades Gudjonsson for MOM. He is just a very special player. Shefield United just couldn't deal with his direct running and incredible skill. Also takes excellent set pieces. Hume - 8 Two fantastic finishes and dropped off the Sheffield United back 4 to cause them problems. Was a little quiet in some parts, but always a constant threat when on the ball. Him and Hammond look a partnership which will cause any defence in this division a problem. Hammond - 8 Ok, so he missed two crucial chances, but at least he's getting in to those positions to miss them. Ironic that he scored with his weaker foot, with a great driving shot across the keeper. Caught offside too many times again, but that part of his game can be worked upon, along with his finishing. Let's hope we retain the Hammond/Hume partnership. Subs: de Vries - 7 Held the ball up well to run down the clock. Hammill - 6 Maintained the width offered by Smith and helped out Johansson more defensively.
Louise Posted 28 November 2005 Posted 28 November 2005 Douglas - 6 - Probably could have done better with their second goal, and still looks slow and reluctant to go to things. Not sure about his positioning in the goal either, he always seems to leave and awful lot exposed. Loved his monkey-swing on the crossbar for our third goal though, he’s certainly got passion even if he's not the best 'keeper. Maybury - 7 - Best game for us so far this season. We finally saw some of the attacking play he showed last season and it worked wonders. Good linkup with Sylla and he seemed to have that extra spring back in his step. Please keep it up Alan, you looked such a good player last season and had under-performed spectacularly so far this season until Saturday. Gerrbrand - 7 - Made a couple of mistakes which is why I've not marked him higher, through a little naiveté I thought though, things that will improve with time after he's played a few more games in this league. I love how comfortable he is on the ball and how he takes it out defence and puts in a great pass. Him and McCarthy have really hit it off too. McCarthy - 8 - Great performance again from Paddy, looks like a real steal by Levein for just 100k. Turning into a real commanding centre-back, was first to any trouble at the back but ushered it out or nicked the ball rather than fouling as he might have done a few months ago. Definitely captain material. Johansson - 6 - He got sucked in for their first goal, he’s definitely not a left-back. Didn’t put a bad performance overall, had a good header off the post in the opening minutes and did try to support the attack more than usual... but I'd still rather see a proper left-back given a go. Sylla - 7 - One of the rare good performances from Sylla that we know he can put in but he does so infrequently. Put in some really great balls and didn’t go missing for parts of the match as he likes to do sometimes. What I liked most was seeing him run to the byline to put in the cross, rather than cutting inside all the time as he seems to do when nervous. But Momo....PASS THE BALL! He's still a selfish player and held onto the ball for too long on more than one occasion. Gudjonsson - 9 - Another great performance from Joey, he's adapted effortlessly to a more attacking role and can put in some great passes with, dare I say it, awareness about them... he actually puts the ball in front of a player for them to run onto, it’s great to see. It's so wonderfully unexpected, with Williams and Hughes out (for different reasons) I thought we were going to struggle in that area but it seem as if regular football was all Joey needed to shine. He's also got the passion and commitment that fans love to see, and I've probably mentioned it before but I love how he claps all four stands after every match... great attitude. Kisnorbo - 6 - Hey...Patrick...pass forward! No, not back to Douglas... no, not to the centre-backs...FORWARD! He’s so infuriating, as he seems to get in good positions sometimes and picks up the ball but then when he should pass out to the wings or the strikers he dithers for a bit then takes the safe option by passing it backwards. Maybe it's a lack of confidence, but its been a problem with his game every time I've seen him play... Other than that he was ok, not spectacular or anything but did his job relatively well. Managed to pass to our players most of the time... Smith - 9 - We'll never keep him past this season, but it's great to watch him while we do have him. What a fantastic player, I'm not sure if I can say anything that hasn’t been already said but he has so much skill, pace, flair, commitment it's unreal and wonderful to see. Took his goal well and the celebration was great. He had a hand in the other two goals that we scored when he was on the pitch as well. He's not afraid to get stuck in either, not like some wingers that'll stay out of the nitty-gritty and just do the creative stuff, he tackles and pressures other players into making mistakes. One of those players its certainly worth paying to see. Hume - 9 - Not a striker indeed... those two goals were perfect striker's finishes. Certainly as good as the ones Connolly scores earlier in the season. I think we've unearthed a gem here, although it is early days.. him and Hammond worked really well, they need to stay together. He basically set up Ryan for his goal as well with his persistence, I love how he shows a bit of skill to avoid loosing the ball, just flicking it past people or up into the air. I don't think Hume will have to sit on the bench much more this season... Hammond - 8 - Great game for Elvis.. yes he should have finished a couple of chances before his goal but scoring aside he played very well anyway. His hold up play was good, his crossing when he found himself on the wings was good, his commitment was certainly good. These last two games Elvis had really looked sharp, and on Saturday with Hume it really clicked, I hope they stay together. Subs: Hamill - 6 - Did a good job when he came on, for what he was sent on to do, which was basically keep possession. He didn't sit back too much but managed to keep the ball in dangerous areas for a reasonable amount of time to nullify them. de Vries - 6 - Help up the ball fairly well when he came on, although not as well as Elvis had been doing... he did ok, but the productivity that the new partnership showed tonight means I hope he stays on the bench for a while.
Ric Flair Posted 28 November 2005 Posted 28 November 2005 Douglas 6 - Didn't have alot to do but what he did have to do he made a meal of it. Scares me at times. Maybury 8 - Best game of the season and got forward really well, he also looked more composed defensively. Thought he was going to be sent off again in the first half, but to be fair there player was a twaaaat. I hope he keeps this up as it was no coincidence that Sylla was much better with help going forward. McCarthy 7 - He was good for the majority of the match but did slice a few in dangerous areas, got the potential to be class though Gerrbrand 7.5 - More steady than McCarthy and he's very no nonsense with a touch of class aswell. Great footballing brain, what a bargain. Nils 6 - Surprised to see him back but slightly relieved he was as I hate managers and players falling out. He was decent, but doesn't push forward and gets caught for pace. Sylla 8 - Very impressed with him on saturday, he was extremely skillful and very effective. I just hope and wish he'd do it more often as he has the talent. Gudjonsson 8 - Mr Reliable, he was excellent and really drove us on at times. I am really proud of Gudjonsson this season and he is more than good enough to take us to the next level. Built from the same stuff as Hume, energy to burn. Kisnorbo 7 - Fair play to the lad, he was ten times better than the midweek shambles. Had a right good battle with their midfield and came out on top, seems to know his role when we decide to attack, attack, attack. Unsung hero on saturday. Smith 10 - Words fail me. I LOVE HIM, I will actually cry when he goes. Hume 9 - He's here, he's there, he's every ****in where Iain Hume, Iain Hume. Tell me he's not a striker!!! two clinical finishes and an excellent assist to boot, not a bad day at the office Iain. Elvis 8 - His work rate and pace was influential and I was over the moon that he scored, he has some decent raw minerals that need coaching. There's light at the end of the tunnel and I will be delighted if he can start producing the goods. Left their defence for dead on a number of occasions. Subs: de Vries 7 - Held the ball up well and showed some fantastic skills near the end. Hamill 6 - Kept the width well and didn't hesitate when he got the ball. Levein 10 - That will shut 'em up Craigy boy!
Michael Doyle Posted 29 November 2005 Posted 29 November 2005 Dident see it but what a great win. Its also great to hear positive comments instead of the yukkie ones recently seen on here. COME ON THE MIGHTY FOXES MadMick
