I think it depends on how physically fit you are.Personally I love it.Not even like 30C temperatures have come out the blue.Summers have been like this for years now.You learn how to adapt

Unprecedented number of red weather warnings and not even middle of July yet suggest you are incorrect.

I find the best weather is like the best referees - you don't really notice it.

Loved those couple of days when it was 20 degrees or so, comfortable in a T-shirt but not too hot or cold.

Thankfully I've got an A/C unit. Couldn't be without it now.

People saying enjoying it etc are either just on the wind up or if they actually enjoy it, must be f***ing lazy and not get off their arses or go to work.

Loved it when I lived abroad because the apartments were built for it and so much of life is outside especially in the evening. Not so much in Britain. Having a 1 year old in this weather isn't fun either.

Yep. Looking after young children in extreme heat is a hard task not to be dismissed

I'm retired so I do a fair bit of arse sitting and I can tell you I don't find the heat pleasant. Can't go out, can't do any physical tasks, can't walk the dog.

Fully fed up with this now. I found myself gasping for breath today. It seems people have decided they're not going to go out shopping when they can get some poor sod to deliver it.

Absolutely no contingency plans from Royal Fail, sorting offices with no air-con or even opening windows and vans don't either.

This keeps up much longer I swear I'm going to suffer some physical damage.

Don't you have one of the electric ones? They're all I see in Hinckley.

Well great for you.

I’m in my 30’s and physically fit by the way. I’m not affected by this heat in the sense of being ill or anything. Doesn’t mean it’s not deeply unpleasant and limiting to what you can do.

Like I say, if you are sitting around on your arse in it all day, it’s probably fine. If you want to be active and busy, it’s tough.

I’m guessing you work from home or in an office? You made a sweeping statement that anybody who enjoys this weather must be lazy as they obviously can”t be doing anything.I like this weather it suits me,and my record producing months these past few years have always coincided with that years heatwave/s

The heat is making my hands sweat so I'm finding it difficult to keep a grip on the PS controller.

This is true btw.

You're an aircon salesman, then?

You were the one that alluded to physical fitness is the key and simply learn to adapt. Good for you but please don't dismiss anyone struggling as not physically fit.  Are you looking after young children or fit yet past a certain age?

I imagine day nurseries and childcare facilities etc are struggling, trying to keep small children entertained and focused as well as looking after their needs and making sure they're safe in this heat must be a challenge.

The same for those working in care homes, with vulnerable elderly residents and mostly with no aircon.

Proving my point really. You agree it’s not pleasant and that doing anything physical is not possibly. I don’t believe I said people who aren’t active will enjoy it.

A lot of nursery’s are sending the young ones home as they are not equipped to keep them all safe.

TBF we never had any weather warnings until recent years.

Yes I hybrid work between home and office and am managing ok.

However, we are having building work done and I feel really sorry for the builders being out in it. I also worry for babies and young kids overheating and having to be sent from nursery. And for elderly and people in poor health.

Yes, I’m frustrated it stops being physical active as easy but I not personally suffering. I do however have empathy with all those who are negatively affected by it.

Point being, those who say ‘It’s just summer, enjoy it’, it’s BS. The country is not equipped. Our summers are mid-20’s. That’s nice and bearable. Sure we get the odd really hot days but the frequency and extremes are getting tiring and it’ll only get worse.

Mmmm, bit of backtracking there.

Yes records are being broken year on year which was sort of my point.Temperatures of mid 30c plus have been common place nearly every single year since at least 2013.This isn’t like August 1990 when we hit the mid 30s and it was like nothing we’d ever seen before.

Prolonged heatwaves are something I’ve become used to.

On the other thing.I gave a ppov to a point  made by another poster.I believe being physically fit gives you a huge advantage at getting through extreme conditions.

Yeah of course it does help. Hence babies and young kids, elderly and unwell people are the ones mainly negatively affected.

My point was, even as someone of a good age who is healthy and physically fit, I think we should be sensitive to those many people in our families, at work and communities who aren’t ok. And my personal view is, people banging on about how much they enjoy this heat and how great it it, or the old ‘stop moaning, it’s summer’ comments are insensitive to that and in many cases, self serving.

I acknowledge I may have overreacted to you personally and my annoyance probably comes from the amount of people you do see completely dismissing it.

I'm sure scaffolders and builders etc are physically fit and get through the conditions. This doesn't mean they find it comfortable or enjoyable I would guess. I know young Mums would prefer lower temperatures. Once the weather becomes the story it usually ain't good.

Exactly, big difference between coping with it and managing and being comfortable and enjoying it.

You’re bang on though, the reason it is newsworthy and ironically this thread is even going, is because the vast majority of people are in the not coping or not enjoying or being comfortable at the least categories.
