No picnic I'm sure. An uncle was transferred with his tank squadron from the middle east to the far east. Singapore fell before they got there so sent to Java and was captured there. Survived 3 years as basically a slave prisoner before he died of beri beri and dysentery

Just been out in the garden and gave everything a good water. Was really peaceful and pleasent. 

 

Also has been the best year ever for raspberrys and looks like its going to be the same for tomatoes & chillis

Today is the worst I've felt during this hot spell. Probably accumulating lack of sleep as much as the heat. Waiting for the magic phrase fresher conditions are imminent

Now lies in the Ambon Commonwealth War Graves cemetery in Indonesia. Long way from dear old blighty
