And that's the hottest it's going to feel thankfully.

Been unbearable last few days. Especially around this time of day when the heat has just absorbed into everything in the home.

On the plus side, I was able to pour the butter onto my sandwiches today. The effort of spreading was making me sweat.

Properly had enough of it now. Making me snappy. Can't concentrate working. Gagging for Sunday when the temperature drops off a lot.

Genuinely questioning how human populations in hot countries ever grew. I've been the least horny I've ever been in my adult life.

Thanks for the update.

I mean, in a desert, hot cups of tea, black berets, whatever those socks are, and the one guy wearing long trousers and a jumper.

Tanks with no aircon must've been unbearable but they got on with the job and smiled.

No such fortitude these days. Maybe because it's not necessary in these modern times of "luxury" and technology and we've become weaker as a result.

Is that his last wish?

Putting aside the dangers of fighting The Afrika Corps to one side. I understand although scorching hot in the daytime the Western Desert was not humid and was cold at night

You're correct as is the case, as I understand it, with most deserts. What I don't understand is why. We get searing heat here during the day but night temperatures don't drop by much. Deserts have their own eco/micro environment systems I guess.

Maybe @leicsmac could explain.

I'm sure there are probably other reasons but one reason is the lack of clouds in the desert to trap the warm daytime air, so all that nice warm air just floats off into space and without the sun it just gets cold.

All comes down to the humidity of the air. Arid air (like in deserts) cannot hold the heat of the sand or the sun at nighttime, so it radiates away pretty quickly.

And I'm sure those good men did what they did so that people could live in a more comfortable world where other people wouldn't have to suffer, in the heat or otherwise, as they did.

I would guess many of us had family members that fought in that theatre of war.

I know I did.

And quite a few of them have mentioned the point wasn't to be like them.

It was Never Again. In any aspect.

There's been no day/night time cloud cover in the UK for days. :dunno:

My late uncle was in Borneo. Not often mentioned but it was pretty grim from what he did say about it. Jungle warfare.

Dry air loses heat quickly

deserts have very low dew points - the air is bone dry

this current heatwave has extremely high dew points and the nighttime temps aren’t dropping much as a consequence- irrespective of no cloud cover

Some clever folk on here. Not so much in other football forums I've read.
