Matt Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 I am currently on AOL, on Friday I was going to sort my Car Insurance out, so I cam online to get some last minute quotes over the internet, I went to get some quotes (Tesco, Norwich Union, e.t.c) and when I clicked the link a page appeared with the "This page cannot be displayed" come up, as if I was offline but I was clearly not offline, so I phoned AOL up and they assured me the problem was with the server at there end, its still not fixed now and my insurance runs out Thursday, so need to get the ball rolling today really. I have phoned AOL up 4 times now and they keep fobbing me off, so I have threatened them I am going to cancel my account. I have just picked up a CD for BT Broadband, Is anyone else on BT Broadband? Are they any good?
Hitesh Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 I am with AOL at home and i dont have many problems with them. Ok, they are stink when they come to support but they have unlimited use so you cant complain. At uni i am with a wireless service called Keysurf who are run by keycom and they are a load of SHIT!!!! its really annoying, i keep d/c and you cant surf properly. Its only "decent" at weekends coz there arent many people using it but come weekdays...well GOOD LUCK!!

Anish Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 Have you got a link to a website for them? http://www.ukonline.net You need to have a BT phoneline though
MC Prussian Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 Shaw Cable - But I guess that won't help you guys much in the U.K.

City Fan Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 Arseholes On Line are definitely the biggest pile of shit ever.
Babylon Posted 27 November 2005 Posted 27 November 2005 How much do you pay for 3mb? if you don't mind me asking. I'm on NTL but @2mb for £24.99 I'm actually paying £17.99 as ntl don't seem to have realised that I updated to the 3mb service!!! Ussually it's about £38... if they realise i'm going to downgrade to 2mb. http://www.home.ntl.com/icat/broadband
cisono Posted 28 November 2005 Posted 28 November 2005 1MB NTL, in a phone & TV package Same here but... it looks like two separate packages on my bill... or do you get a discount? I am paying NTL far too much and I want out!
cisono Posted 28 November 2005 Posted 28 November 2005 Ukonline - 1mb broadband @ £9.99 ...and that's unlimited usage btw I see they offer 22Mb broadband? (Yes, that's 22Mb) How long have you been with them? PS: They don't seem to cover the whole of Leicester for some reason... The best price they can quote me for this area is £19.99/month for 1Mb ...
Katy Posted 28 November 2005 Posted 28 November 2005 Beggers cant be choosers where I live AOL were being wacknackers so we were able to change to BT Broadband and have no other choice. Its not unlimited but we havent reached our limit yet and we are always downloading stuff.

PS: They don't seem to cover the whole of Leicester for some reason... The best price they can quote me for this area is £19.99/month for 1Mb ... I've been with them for about 3 months now. I think they do cover all of Leicester, http://www.ukonline.net/broadband/exchangelist.php You said you are currently with NTL, so I presume you have a cable phone line. That's why it's quoting you £19.99. If you had a BT line it would be £9.99 per month for 1mb. One of the few benefits of staying with BT

I got a quote based on the BT line. The feedback I got when I checked on their site was: "Important: You are not currently on our network. We will be delivering broadband services to your BT phone line using BT's network, which means we are unable to offer you our lowest broadband prices. Although £9.99 broadband is not available in your area, you can still choose from our great unlimited broadband services below. 2Mb only £24.99 a month FREE connection up to 2Mb download speeds 1Mb only £19.99 a month FREE connection up to 1Mb down "
Matt Posted 9 December 2005 Author Posted 9 December 2005 WTF do you have to do to make these thick people listen? The problem I am having is still there, People at AOL won't listen ("I will send you an e-mail on how to sort the problem" then someone else tells me its a problem that will be fixed by the technians in 24 hours and that was about 2 weeks ago) People at AOL ignore you! And the bit I can't work out is....I have had to pay 20% extra on my insurance because you get it cheaper 20% on the internet but I had to do it over the phone due to this problem, I can't get onto my online banking because of this problem, and I could really do with getting onto my internet banking, and I have soent in total about a day of my own time trying to fix the problem and guess what? AOL are not able to provide me with any compensation, what a fuking joke? Before ignoring me, someone at AOL said the problem will be fixed in the next few hours, so I have said if it ain't fixed by then i'll be changing companies...I did say that last week, but its the effort of changing companies i'm not looking forward to!

Yeah, ditch AOL, they SUCK, with capital letters... and their proprietary browser sucks as well. I'm with BT at the moment (NTL don't offer broadband for my street, bah!) and though I'm limited to 1Mb speeds due to 'the quality of my line' I've not had any problems with the service for the past 9 months or so that I've been with them. When I say no problems, I mean no problems, at all, not one, which is kind of rare when it come's to ISP's. If you have aBT line you've got a wide choice of ISP's to choose from - a good site to check out customer satisfaction levels is ADSL Guide - http://www.adslguide.org.uk/isps/compare.asp .

Some people may be interested in these broadband offers.
