Diallo or Carvalho signing conundrum

If the club had to choose to sign either on loan which would be a better option for us.

 

I reckon Diallo just because his raw pace and ability to beat a man is something we need for the second half of the season, to help us score more goals going forwards. Although Carvalho is more technically better and creative as a player.

Neither benefit us much. We don't need that sort of player. I thi k we need a Wilf replacement fairly urgently.

Casadei? I think he will be given a chance to play more centrally now, although signing an 8 would be preferable, Carvalho can play in that position to good effect. I just don’t see us signing a player on a permanent transfer in January , a loan is the most viable option. I really think we missed the boat in the summer we tried to sign McAtee but didn’t get him in. Zian Flemming would have been a perfect back up option, but he’s still going to command a hefty fee from Millwall, £5m-£10m which I don’t see us spending at this stage of the season.

It will probably be Casadei to fill that role but I'm not sure he has the physical attributes to properly replace Wilf. The club might just try and get by until he's back

If I were choosing players for a permanent spot, I think I'd choose Carvalho. If it were just a loan, with what we know about their parent clubs intentions, I'd go Diallo, as it seems there's possibly more chance of making that a permanent in the future. Fabio provides competition for Mav and cover for an 8 (though I'm not as sold on him being an 8 in our system as some on here are) whereas Diallo covers Fats and probably a false 9?

Both would be great, either is fine, neither is no big deal either. Weird one innit?!

Not many in the Championship do have the same ability as Wilf.

Carvalho can play down the middle or the wing. Maresca loves a bit of versatility.

Carvalho would benefit us massively. 
 

There’s no point trying to find a “replacement” for Wilf, the role he is playing is down to his abilities, it’s not normal practice to play a player with his skill set in that position. So trying to replicate this is impossible. 
 

This window is impossible to deal in at the best of times, our best bet is to look for a loan, a loan for a player who has the ability to play centrally. A loan would be more financially viable and it means we can shop in a better market in the summer. 
 

A player like Carvalho would be ideal, the player may need some convincing to drop down to the championship, but I’m sure we will end up with a loan, we need a bit of depth if anything.

Either we weren't genuinely interested or couldn't guarantee the game time Liverpool were looking for.
