cisono Posted 12 December 2005 Posted 12 December 2005 Snooker - 147 OR Darts - 9 dart finish. Are you asking for a general truth? Not sure but I guess it depends on the individual's specific abilities and possibly training.
Nationwider Posted 12 December 2005 Posted 12 December 2005 Good question. Despite having got nowhere near either, I'd have to say a 147 as you need 37 consecutive successes as opposed to just 9 for the perfect darts finish. You've also got to contend with how the balls are arranged, whereas with darts you're fairly certain that the board will be the same every time you step up to the oche.
The People's Hero Posted 13 December 2005 Posted 13 December 2005 147 Snooker. Although hats off to anyone who can do a nine dart finish. I'm quite pleased with the fact that I've hit a 180. And I've only done that once. Luckily there were witnesses present. Woohoo. (Lost the leg though!)
Lukeh Posted 13 December 2005 Posted 13 December 2005 Can some one explain what a nine dart finish is please....
The People's Hero Posted 13 December 2005 Posted 13 December 2005 501 to finished in nine darts. Nine darts is the fewest it can be done in.
toonboy Posted 13 December 2005 Posted 13 December 2005 I would think 147 but haven't more people done a 147 though? Not sure if thats a fact but im sure it's true on TV atleast (probably more snooker on TV). So IF more 147's have been achieved that would suggest it was easier.
The People's Hero Posted 13 December 2005 Posted 13 December 2005 I think it's suffice to say in this case that both are incredibly difficult and it's mind blowing to watch someone do it. The concentration required under that kind of pressure is immense.
Lukeh Posted 13 December 2005 Posted 13 December 2005 In that case i say i say 147 because you have the utmost control of the direction of your balls, with darts you hit and hope... just like city...
toonboy Posted 13 December 2005 Posted 13 December 2005 I remember seeing O'Sullivan do one in about 5 and a half minutes a few years ago, that was pretty awesome. I also saw the end of Ken Doherty getting 140, I think he was the first person to miss the black when he could have got a 147.
The People's Hero Posted 13 December 2005 Posted 13 December 2005 In that case i say i say 147 because you have the utmost control of the direction of your balls, with darts you hit and hope... just like city... If that's how you play, I doubt if you'll ever get a nine dart finish. Having said that, I never will either!
Guest Posted 13 December 2005 Posted 13 December 2005 I'd say a 9 dart finish, as it is easier to practice a 147; apparently snooker players do them for fun when practising.
Head Honcho Posted 13 December 2005 Posted 13 December 2005 Gotta be a 147 With a 9 dart finish thats it! 9 darts. With the 147 it's 36 potted balls and loads of positioning, it's gotta be harder I've had 2 180's in a row a couple of times and i'm no darts player, but saying that I've 7 balled people at pool loads of times. God now I am confused!
The People's Hero Posted 13 December 2005 Posted 13 December 2005 There should be a third option to this poll which is Leicester scoring one goal or more AND keeping a clean sheet.
Thracian Posted 13 December 2005 Posted 13 December 2005 Both are immense. But I'd say the 147 break. Don't think I'm gonna be a threat for either. All the tables I ever play on seem to be on a slope cos the cue ball always seems to end up by the cushion! Either that or right in the middle so I need one of those assistant cue's. Indeed, my son reckons I only play snooker for the rest!
Katy Posted 13 December 2005 Posted 13 December 2005 I'd say multiple orgasms. Nah piece of piss that one
Strokes Posted 14 December 2005 Posted 14 December 2005 Snooker - 147 OR Darts - 9 dart finish. Hit a hole in a week last saturday! although an element of fortune was one of my proudest moments ever
Cobbo Posted 14 December 2005 Posted 14 December 2005 Hit a hole in a week last saturday! although an element of fortune was one of my proudest moments ever A hole in a week? That IS impressive
Darth Fox Posted 14 December 2005 Posted 14 December 2005 These are both tough. I'd say darts but they are both rock hard.
Bert Posted 14 December 2005 Posted 14 December 2005 I'd say the 147 because you have to concentrate so much and be focused for a longer time, you need to be able to have a steady and good cueing action which enables you to get decent positon on the next ball, which isnt to easy to do anyway. the pressure on you is much more intense as well. Ii just think if you tried these x amount of times your more likely to do the 9 dart/ get closer than you are the 147
FNQ Posted 14 December 2005 Posted 14 December 2005 9 dart finish is harder I think. If I'm correct it's only been done very few times in the professional game, whereas the 147, although not commonplace, comes out once or twice a season. Correct me if I'm wrong.
