We have no available strikers currently so is it any surprise we're struggling? I keep hearing people slagging off the manager as clueless whilst ignoring the fact that any tactical/style plans she had have gone out of the window with no strikers available to her. Our 1st team is capable of competing with most teams in the league but the moment we get hit with injuries the quality of our squad depth gets found out. You can only judge her based on a fully fit squad having played a decent amount of games.

Not creating anything at all though, I get using Mace and Cayman as a 9 just robs Peter to pay Paul as it were, they are important players in the build, however Goodwin, Cain, Momiki, Rose and Chossonotte should be capable of getting more than 1 shot away in total with Cayman and Mace behind them.

I do feel it’s the midfield that lacks, Pelgander isn’t going to figure, Tierney has been poor since that armband went, age is catching up on Janice and Takarada ran backwards v Brighton. Mace does a great job but that midfield is now as light as the defence was last season, and is far too defensive minded.

Even before the injuries started to bite they were incredibly negative.

Lena Petermann hasn't featured at all this season and she is our main striker. Rantala by the Villa game and Mouchon around the same time whilst having never played in this league. We've played Mace and Momiki up front for heavens sake so xg stats do not reflect the reality of what the manager is having to dealing with. Again our squad depth is being found out but lets not forget we still aren't an established WSL team and whilst trying to become one that twat willie Kirk set us back a pretty much a whole season just when we looked like becoming one.

Excuse making is not going to do us any good now. The injuries have happened and we have to get on with it.

One thing is certain though, we are not going to 0-0 our way out of this mess. It's time to be brave and have a go. Crystal Palace have realised that, and we have a much better squad than they do, even accounting for the injuries. At the very least it will give fans a reason to go and watch them.

I do agree with you on being brave and having a go. It comes with a greater risk of relegation if it goes wrong but fans need something to get excited about, and based on the low number we get on match day they're clearly not encouraged by the current way of playing. That being said, our injuries and squad depth aren't excuses and shouldn't be seen that way and I still think the manager is a good appointment.

What’s Draper’s Injury as seems like she’s been out for weeks.

Real shame because this period could have been the making of her as a starter.

No idea on Draper. Petermann is her knee, O’Brien is ankle, Rantala is still in leg brace. Miquel said 2 months but I initially heard it was 4.  Agreed, would have been a great opportunity for Draper with these long term absentees.

Strange the WSL injury detail site just has her as injury unknown & from the 16th Oct when she withdrew from the England U squad but I think she was injured before that and has only appeared on the bench once without getting on this season.

Hopefully back soon to take advantage of the other injuries & that nothings brewing with the manager as she got around 17 appearances last season and was getting amongst the goals.

Lack of strikers is nothing to do with being able to get it out out of our own third, the team can barely get 2 passes together and for most of every game I have watched cant get out of their own half.  Everything Kirk coached to improve them is gone.

The scorelines are misleading in our favour, the performances are on the level of 3 or 4 nil defeats.

Pretty much spot on, Palace showed how easy it was to play between the lines against us.  As poor as West Ham and Villa were, we never troubled them.

I’ve been making an effort to watch them pre match warming up, standing nearby at the last two away games and they don’t look a happy bunch.  CJ Bott was dropped for the last 2 games which again seems an odd move.

The play has regressed, and ok we’ve lost Rantala and Mouchon but we also played a fair amount of last season without Petermann and O’Brien anyway.

We finished the game Sunday with Thibaud on the left wing, quite why Nevin wasn’t pushed forward with Thibaud at left back is anyone’s guess.

Yes it does. especially when you consider the fact that some of our best midfielders (Mace, Momiki) have been playing upfront!

not forgetting the ability of he striker to hold off the defenders and bring others into the game, its different skill to that needed to play CM for example

Why does ALL the sport always have to clash :P  (2nd half of the women's match vs Man Utd clashes with the tennis, which then also clashes with the England vs ROI match... )

Hannah Cain is very good at the defending from the front aspect of her role.  But not good at the actual attacking bit.

case in point. had to score that, not even on target
