Ric Flair Posted 20 December 2005 Posted 20 December 2005 Im just saying Allen has got Brentford in to a automatic promotion slot in front of 22 other teams with bigger budgets, ( in some cases much bigger ) therefore certain people on here should not be questioning his abilties as a manager. I agree, he does look impressive but he does have some questionable methods which might not work at a higher level.

I didn't say I wanted him to replace Levein. I just stated that he has acheived a fair bit as a manager for the benefit of foxes4eva or whatever his name is.

Manwell Pablo Posted 20 December 2005 Posted 20 December 2005 There were also in the play offs last season and made it the last 16 of the FA cup.
Ric Flair Posted 20 December 2005 Posted 20 December 2005 Alot of his signings have come from non-league and turned them in to quality players. Sam Sodje, Stuart Nelson, Alex Roades, etc.

Admitted he may have acheived more than first thought, but he is still unproven at this level and would be a massive risk to get rid of Levein as we are looking like turning the corner
Strokes Posted 20 December 2005 Author Posted 20 December 2005 But always in the Play-Offs Not in his first two years he didn't
Head Honcho Posted 20 December 2005 Posted 20 December 2005 It took Burley four years to get ipswich promoted, shall we give levein a little more time before we put his name in the hat???????? Not sure, but I doubt they finished lower than 8th in the 4 seasons preceding promotion. I'm sure if we go any higher than 12th we'd get a nose bleed!

The "who would you replace him with" arguement really has no substance.
l444ry Posted 20 December 2005 Posted 20 December 2005 Not in his first two years he didn't Sorry, Fox4eva. But Craig Burley's Ipswich were in the Play-Off area every year he was manager. If you remember we pipped them to the Play-Offs by beating Watford on the final day of the 1995/96 season. They eventually finished 7th after starting the last match of the season in a play-off position.....his first full season, having joined in Dec 1994 when they were all but relegated. The next 5 years they finished 4th, 5th, 3rd, 3rd, 5th.
Babylon Posted 20 December 2005 Posted 20 December 2005 so you'd rather see us pass it well, hit the post twice and miss 4 sitters everygame than beat a premiership club 2-0. each to their own. Did I say that.. you turnip!!!!!!

Anish Posted 20 December 2005 Posted 20 December 2005 Possibly but it was still a decent achievement and one of the reasons why we went for him in the first place. Everyone welcomed Levein when he came here because of his reign at Hearts. Not everyone mate. A few of us were 'let's wait and see' before judging Levein, and he's not exactly lived up to standards yet.

I think hindsight has caused a few people to say they weren't convinced when he took over for us but I seem to remember a hell of alot of people thinking Levein was a massive coup and I myself actually had him down as my first choice which i'm not afraid to admit. I knew it wouldn't be easy but I was quietly confident we'd be challenging for a play-off place by now.

It's not a matter of questioning his abilities as a manager. It's simply that he's proved nothing and would probably not have the ideal approach for the Leicester job anyway. Besides, this is not the time to be changing managers.

If Levein went he would be 2nd on my list behind Burley, I think he could do a good job here, and he has proved alot at Brentford. For the umptenth time I know its not time to be changing managers. I am simply stating that Martin Allen is a good manager.
