An interesting player which we have sorely lacked in recent years. At least the team, when temporarily looking up the pitch, have noticed he will offer something.

Was too good today must have upset the genius because he made everyone look bad so got subbed for burns

Absolute genius move once again well worth the 2 million a year

Im glad all over departments across the club have made the sacrifice of reduced hours.. to accommodate this wonderful manager

Thanks 😊

That 14 at left back for them was one of the worst full backs we’ll face this season and Alves had him on toast. Frustrating to see Alves not given the chance to just be a bit more direct and get at him. Too many times he acted on instruction and turned back to play a simple pass inside or backwards despite the fact that, each time he did go at the full back, he was creating chances or half chances.

I thought the key moment was that full back’s yellow card challenge. Once he’d picked up the booking, it was like it gave Alves the spark to test him out. He ruined his own game with a rash challenge.

Not that I’m criticising. Too many times in recent years we’ve witnessed opposing full backs get booked and our wingers not even seeming to notice that new vulnerability.

I thought the number 14 would have got dragged off at half time, definitely didn’t exploit that he had a yellow card and was so slow.

Leicester City were held to a 2-2 draw by Stevenage at King Power Stadium in League One.

The Foxes twice took the lead through Sammy Braybrooke and Kamari Doyle, but twice the visitors hit back.

Here are some of the talking points...

Where there’s Will, there’s a way
Will Alves was one of City’s best players, if not the best, as he teed up Sammy Braybrooke to score the opening goal and then whipped in a dangerous cross that fell to Kamari Doyle to put the Foxes back in front.

On top of his assists, he was a threat throughout.

And to make his performance even more impressive, manager Russell Martin revealed afterwards that the young winger was unwell on the eve of the match, throwing his involvement into major doubt.

“He was amazing. Unfortunately he had to come off, he’s not been very well,” said Martin.

“He did well to start the game, yesterday (Friday) we thought he was a big doubt. So he only did a little bit of training, went home and felt really rough, so he did brilliantly.” He really did.

Alves showed great composure to cut the ball back from the far post to Braybrooke to score, after a sweeping cross from Luke Thomas had flashed across the face of goal.

And he put in a brilliant cross that Stevenage goalkeeper Tommy Setford could only parry into the path of Doyle to score.

Martin assured everyone that Alves is now OK, which is good news for City given his importance.

He’s our best attacking player by a margin. I think we need to find a formation or position where he can get on the ball more and have less defensive responsibility so he doesn’t get gassed and have to be subbed. Tough gig covering the whole right hand side of the pitch and still creating for 90 mins. Love watching him play though.

In the minority but the amount of times (esp first half) he kept passing back when there was a chance to take on the player. Don't know if this is Brussell ball though...

Still 100 million miles ahead of burns

Definitely Brussel ball and a hallmark he’s following orders. Probably looks at stats about being dispossessed in that area and so given orders when to attack or not.

Also have to consider that Alves covering the whole right hand side of the pitch, so would need to think when to conserve energy verses go for it.

There was a couple of times, where he didn’t anticipated the pass, which led to a misplaced pass. That said in order to anticipate any pass players need to know that a pass is coming and that only comes with having players on the same wavelength, which I don’t think we have atm. When we are on the same wavelength we look good, and the opposite is true when are not on the same wavelength.

Have to remember his playing RWB, he's not going to have the same amount of freedom as he would as a RWer.
