Just listening to it now. Comes across very well, especially in terms of his standards and what he expects of his players, and just being realistic about how the Championship is.

On a side note, how long was the first question by Mark lol

A good listen however I wasn't keen on when asked which players had impressed him most since joining, first few players he mentioned were Silko Thomas, Oliver Skipp and Decordova Reid 🤦‍♂️

Very odd question. He’s not gonna say one player stands out. His answer seemed to be weighted towards those that may have influence and are not massively in favour

He's made a good start in transfers, tactics and sprited performances from the team except Preston. But I like him and it sounds pretty clear that he intends to deliver his well spoken words.

Really decent of Marti to do this.

Did Piper say it was 15 years since a current manager had a long-form sit-down with RL? I remember Pearson talking to Stringer but it was long after he'd left the club.

With this and stuff he's done on the official club media outlets, he really seems to be making extra effort to communicate with the fans which is very welcome. He has no obligation to do any of it outside of the match comms.

Lets hope being at Leicester City doesn't beat all this enthusiasm out of him.

For a long time the club completely boycotted RL after Stringers cut throat gesture

Thought that was just Pearson and some of his squad? They also definitely reconciled a few years later and Stringer spoke to all subsequent managers until he was sacked.

I think a number of the senior squad from that side (and therefore Ranieri’s) never did forgive Stringer mind.

Was interesting to hear his insights from a tactical point of view. Some decent questions asked, Although both OPA and Pipes were probably a bit forceful when it came to confronting Cifuentes with the disconnect between club and fans.

I found it interesting how Cifuentes highlights that he wants players to show the right spirit (i.e. it's fair to assume he does his bit by leading by example), yet when the players show said spirit, like fighting back against Wednesday, he doesn't want any of the praise.

He made a point to acknowledge all the club staff behind the scene as being a big part of the success the club has had too, which is a worthwhile thing to highlight. He literally says judge the performances on the pitch, implying that this is the only aspect we fans have full access to.

Cifuentes is clever and has definitely helped get the fans onside. He could have easily taken more of a players stance on the disconnect with the fans and just stopped short of criticism but pleaded we get behind them.

He's quite clearly set his stall out that he backs his players 100% but it is they who's job it is to make the fans get behind them rather than vice versa or even an equal responsibility. He's a manager fans really can identify with and in turn we will get behind him and the players which is the organic ingredient we all need and want anyway!
