Players need to be fined for unnecessary backwards passes

If they're in a hole....or tightly marked fair enough....pass backwards to get out of it but what MUST stop now is needless backward passing.....I mean Winks and Vestergaard and their ridiculous one twos and midfielders receiving the ball in the opposition half and first instinct.....pass backwards.....no more.....it's done.....fine players for doing it if you have to I don't care I just can't bare watching it week in week out....it's shit....it gets us nowhere and when the opposition score like they did last night and at West Brom you look pretty dam stupid for playing it around and going nowhere for such long periods....it's anti-football and MUST end NOW

problem is it has won teams titles and it is used world wide by some of the best teams in the world. It is a trend that i agree is killing the excitement. 

 

keeping the ball for the sake of keeping it. 

 

No one is daring with a pass (usually because teams over commit with their full backs and midfield leaving you vunerable to the counter (just like we have been for a few years now!) 

 

Low risk and in most cases low reward. 

 

Players are now trained to keep the ball rather than taking a risk / shot on. If there is nothing on turn around and start again.  

 

You only have to look at the amount of goals scored from outside of the box barely any compared to what they used to be.

Can't argue with the overall sentiment of the op. Our game which produced 2 shots on target in total from both sides was 3x less than any other championship game last night, with 6 the next lowest if you can't do the math.

Our style, direction and everything at the club is just so predictable and boring and we just peddle out the same crap and tactical style week in week out.

Maybe try mixing up the tactics as well as the players a bit, maybe even tactics to suit players out on the pitch and then things might change. But we're stuck in the same low gear, and seemingly unwilling to change it.
