I've seen the ratings and was a tad surprised as, for the first 15-20 minutes, he was terrible. Granted, he didn't cost us the game, partly because of the new formation. But it was scary to watch.

Don't get me wrong, I think he had a half decent game in the second half, but it doesn't take away from the fact that Ayinde had him on toast and caused all sorts of issues (including the yellow card).

Defensively poor again, it seems there are a lot of good wingers in this league ( yet we sign Mav!) . But with theee centre halves we should be happy to invite crosses. From 20 minutes on we got him further up the pitch and he put some good balls into their box.

Right. My humble take.

Positives

- Martin changed things!
- The three at the back gave us an extra pass and more space to do our thing. It also gave us a +1 when Donny attacked, which made their forward line look extremely ordinary.
- Luke Thomas' moments of being terrible didn't cost us today, because we always had at least two players behind him.
- Souttar put a shift in. He did a lot of the unseen stuff really well, as well as get his massive head in the way plenty of times. His presence meant that Donny had to figure out ways to play around him, which meant they had to go wide with their long balls.
- Pretty much everything that Kamari Doyle did.
- John Lundstram went from a 2 against Peterborough to a 9 today. Looked like a captain and made things work. Linked play, moved the ball well, drove forward, the lot. And the goal was a huge plus.
- Pretty much everything Louis Page did.
- In so many games, Alves has looked like the only one trying to make things happen. Today, he still put a shift in and was very good (and nearly scored a stunner), but we won despite him not coming off. This isn't a dig at all – just that it's refreshing to see that one of our youngest, most talented players doesn't need to carry the entire team on his shoulders every week.
- Sammy Braybook. Kid's a very, very good player.
- Okoli looked like he enjoyed the back three. Physical, good in the air, had more confidence with the ball when he knew he had two players around him.
- Riis worked hard and was a threat. Again, he didn't come off today, but he worried Donny's back line and his work rate was brilliant from the first minute to the last.
- We didn't have BDR on the pitch at any point
- We have Connor Chaplin fit and ready. Ok, he was really baaad today, but he will come good for us in this league. No doubt whatsoever.

Negatives
- Conceding a silly goal, obviously
- For the second week running, Luke Thomas got taken to the cleaners by a young, tricky winger. This time it was Leon Ayinde. It didn't cost us, but in the first half it was 100% clear that he had Thomas beat.
- Liam Cullen. What is the point of him?

Think that’s a perfect humble take reflection.

Not sure I saw that much of Page BUT Doyle & Lundstram were the best 2 players on the pitch.

Riis’s work ethic was brilliant, an example to all, and all Okoli had to do was defend, not pass much.

Real shame we didn’t keep a clean sheet for our defensive confidence.

Massive massive week, 9pts & we are quickly back in the conversation & both their league positions are poor, BIG chance this week.

The negative around the ground and on here needs to stop. The only way we’ll get up is being behind the lads. It’s hard at times I know, but we all need to be positive. It’s a marathon not a sprint

I entered a marathon once

I was picking the nuts from my foreskin which appeared to be forever  afterwards

I'll get my coat

Well, yes... it was more direct and were happy to lump it up the pitch more but still elements of sidewards football, but it felt more purposeful.

It was noticeable more balls into channels, not making as many passes in our own 6 yard box , play it long if you don't win the 1st win the 2nd ball it's not hard

In fact looked at the upcoming fixtures, chance to win 5 in a row, all below us & a number struggling.  Real chance here, Luton A might be trickier BUT next 4-5 are all winnable. CMON!!!!

I've been totally disengaged with the games up to now, but yesterday, it seemed better. Less p1ssing around at the back, somewhat better defensively, McCarthy kicking the ball up the field from goal kicks, so fair play to RM for changing things somewhat. But it's one game and it's League 1 where with the squad we have, games against teams with played so far should be 'how many are we going to win by, rather than we need a win today'. 3/5 at the back worked better yesterday and after a unconvincing start, we dominated much of the game until they scored.

Let's see what Tuesday brings, but with the same attitude and set up, I think we can start looking ahead with a little more confidence (famous last words).

Looks like RM has stumbled on a much better formation and tactic by chance, playing a quicker tempo.

He has to stick with this, it suits the players much better.

Kanga for O'Hora and when JJ is fit he could play RWB with Alves replacing Braybrooke.

Bristric and Braybrooke on the bench so at least we have midfield and striker cover.

In his post match interview he said he wasn't sure if he would keep it the same or change back on Tuesday, this may have been to give the oppo a decision to make but he said it like he was going to change back to his way.

Word on RM’s subs and lack of them handing the initiative to Doncaster and almost costing us the game.

Think it was more individual errors from those on the pitch from the start that threw the initiative back to Donny. No need for Lundstom trying to do two Cruyff turns, when he'd already beaten his man with the first, Okoli out muscled from the quick throw in and O Hora, well doing who knows what. Thought Aluko was the right call too.

😂 It would be just typical for the egotistical twat to change a winning format.
