garienigel Posted 12 February 2006 Posted 12 February 2006 Surely this smacks of desperation even if it is as a mentor to RK Just leave it as it is, we're on a roll, why change anything?
spirefox Posted 12 February 2006 Posted 12 February 2006 If Kelly wants him -no problem.Seems to make a lot of sense.
Jay Posted 12 February 2006 Posted 12 February 2006 I don't think that would be a bad move he's been around the block and knows the business and could help guide Kelly in the right direction
FNQ Posted 12 February 2006 Posted 12 February 2006 Jim Smith director of football - sounds alright to me.
Benji Posted 12 February 2006 Posted 12 February 2006 following on from libertine, who the hell is the bald eagle
Benji Posted 12 February 2006 Posted 12 February 2006 I dunno, Harry Redknapp seemed to aspire with him as his second man
Craig Posted 12 February 2006 Posted 12 February 2006 I've heard that Martin Allen will take over next week as Rob Kelly don't want the job permanently. He's been having talks last week, not sure how reliable the source is, but it's believable.
City Fan Posted 12 February 2006 Posted 12 February 2006 not sure how reliable the source is Is it as reliable as the source that said Bellion was coming to City?
Craig Posted 12 February 2006 Posted 12 February 2006 Is it as reliable as the source that said Bellion was coming to City? No, that was a joke, this isn't.
davieG Posted 12 February 2006 Author Posted 12 February 2006 From Kiwi fox off of FoxFanzine This is from my brother who is closely involved with Brentford Apparently Martin Allen has had two interviews at LCFC, but such are the terms of his contract it would be expensive for LCFC to take him without 3 months notice period (ie end of the season). This might explain why Holloway is on gardening leave. If MA goes to LCFC you will defo get sam Sodje in the summer, and probably michael turner too, both of whom are brilliant cehtre-backs. Don't expect he will take Paul Brooker though. A Reply from Bees fan KentBee Your "rumour" would be more believable without the second para. He's on a low salary at Brentford so the bit about expensive three months notice is just b*******. Also posted on there by Steve_LE4 So says The League Paper this morning , apparently Rob ( God ) Kelly has stressed again to the board his desire to concentrate on the coaching side of things , and Martin Allen has been approached with Brentford's permission . The pressure is off with Kelly leading us to three on the bounce , and Brentford' cup exploits continue to delay an immediate decision . If safety were achieved the Mad Dog would be a fairly popular choice for the job in the Summer . So usual rubbish then!
The Livingston Fox Posted 12 February 2006 Posted 12 February 2006 Got a phone call from a mate in Scotland today and the Scottish News of the World says if Ian Holloway doesn't get the Leicester job then Mark McGhee will.Never a truer saying than "don't believe everything you read in the papers".
Craig Posted 12 February 2006 Posted 12 February 2006 From Kiwi fox off of FoxFanzine A Reply from Bees fan KentBee Also posted on there by Steve_LE4 So usual rubbish then! Goes with that i've heard though
lookwhaticando Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 And again RK says he's not thinking about it. Leicester caretaker boss Rob Kelly has distanced himself from taking the job full time. (Daily Express) Source Tell us something we don't know. I think he should just admit he can't wait to take complete control
City Fan Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 Allen Comments On Rumours - AgainBy Dave Lane Date: 13/2/2006 At the end of another weekend in which he has been linked the Bees boss with vacancies at other clubs, Martin Allen has gone on record as saying that he is not interested in the Leicester City job. The Gaffer's constant 'involvement' in the managerial merry-go-round elsewhere is a source of frustration and concern, but Allen's words hopefully point to him staying in charge at GP until the end of the season, at least. The single-minded, driven attitude of Allen will clearly see him rise to the top in the game, and the realists among us will admit that is likely to be away from Brentford Football Club, but it is difficult to ignore the constant speculation. We should never play down our manager's part in turning the fortunes of the club around, to achieve what he has under the circumstances is a remarkable achievement in itself, but we would all hope that promotion is a realistic target and that the manager would want to stay and finish 'the job' off before moving his career up a gear. Allen told the Hounslow Chronicle this week that; "I know how lucky I am… I have a special feeling for this club and the supporters. The reception they give me every week is unbelievable and I still find it embarrassing… I really appreciate what I've got here in terms of fans and the group of men who cross the white line. I appreciate the supports' input and I think they appreciate mine." As Allen keeps saying, it's frustrating to keep having to comment on ifs, buts and maybes, but, realistically, it's impossible not to get drawn in. http://brentford.rivals.net/default.asp?si...=2&stid=8403457 Even though the title reckons he is saying he isnt interested, it doesn't exactly read like that to me.
City Fan Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 I can now really see is keeping Kelly until the end of the season, and then Martin Allen becoming our manager from next season.
casabian Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 Martin Allen has told SSN that he has no interset in the job they sed e was on a shortlist of 3 now down to 2 holloway and kelly r final two left on the list
werestandingup_weresittingdown Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 these managers are fookin crazy. I admit we arent one of the biggest clubs in the world but come on!!! managers of clubs like brentford and luton turning us down!!! they have lost the plot. Leicester are a relatively big club with good potential. Under good management ie oneill we have been a decent premiership side. Admittedly those days are in the past but we have a support that with a successful team would bring in close to 30,000 supporters every week. brentford and luton will NEVER be as big as us. If i was newell or allen id jump at the chance. Even if it was simply to act as a stepping stone to an even bigger club. Muppets the lot of 'em. I hope they enjoy their careers managing clubs with fan bases of 8000. Small time mugs. I still hope we dont get holloway. Kelly seems to be securing the hotseat by default. Good luck to him.
andyb92 Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 If Holloway comes i will be really disapointed with the board, in my humble opinion holloway is clueless. QPR got rid of him and we are a bigger team then them....i just hope the board listen to the fans on this one.
City Fan Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 We should try Phil Parkinson (or perhaps even Kenny Jackett) before we settle for either Holloway or Kelly.
