Jay Posted 8 February 2006 Posted 8 February 2006 my first job was delivering the free local paper when I was about 13 but I had to deliver about 300 newspapers for £3.00!!! I did it for about 2weeks then got fed up and me and a friend shoved half of them through the letter box of an empty house and burned the rest!!! I think I got sacked then as they never came back the following week!!! at 16 I started working at Morrisons while I was at college worked in the warehouse pretty easy to be fair didn't do much and never had to deal with customers which is always a bonus!!!! I earned a MASSIVE £1.80 per hour, disgusting to be fair

Rincewind Posted 8 February 2006 Posted 8 February 2006 First job 1967/68 Abbey Park as a trainee? gardner. This consisted of dragging an out of date lawnmower about 8 hours a day. I mowed around the Roman Ruins, the riverbank and around the rosebeds. I also shoveled manure from one pile to another, chopped wood and cleaned out the paddling pool after the little brats had peed in it. Not my choice of a job. My mum got it for me because it was thought I could not find one on my own. I had a 3 month plus one month extension trial before it was decided I was not suited to it. Wages were £4 a week which £3 of it was board to my mother. Never drank in them days. As they say the rest of my life is history.
