Cobbo Posted 22 May 2006 Posted 22 May 2006 Is shutting. Buh Byeee As was said to me earlier by a well known member of this very board, an end of an era like Lewis's shurring.
davieG Posted 22 May 2006 Posted 22 May 2006 Not being harsh but it was always a bit wank... Perhaps not ALWAYS as it's been around for 80 years.
Knighton Matt Posted 22 May 2006 Posted 22 May 2006 Perhaps not ALWAYS as it's been around for 80 years. I'm older than you think
Cobbo Posted 22 May 2006 Author Posted 22 May 2006 Not being harsh but it was always a bit wank... Now then you, take that back. Take it back <_<
Knighton Matt Posted 22 May 2006 Posted 22 May 2006 Now then you, take that back. Take it back <_< Seriously it was awful. They seemed to sell everything but specialise in nothing. The next to go will be WHSmith. Equally awful.

davieG Posted 22 May 2006 Posted 22 May 2006 At first I thought it might be that the Haymarket owners wanted to move up market to compete more with the Shires, until I was told that Littlewoods is now an Everthung for 99p, so maybe Woolies was to upmaket for them.
Syko Posted 22 May 2006 Posted 22 May 2006 Old news i knew about this 2 weeks ago i was there when my manager got the phone call tell him about it, its because some big company has offered a huge amount for the building and they can't say no cause woolies is basically going down the pan (btw I work at woolies in my town)

davieG Posted 22 May 2006 Posted 22 May 2006 never thought i'd see the day a spelling mistake from the big guy! You've not been looking very carefully have you? Mind you I'm not as not as bad as these:
The People's Hero Posted 22 May 2006 Posted 22 May 2006 Went to Woolies today for some Pick'n'Mix. It's amazing how much you can fit in their £3 cups with the application of some gentle persuasion with the scooper. Oh yes. TPH 1 - 0 Woolworths Maidstone.
SystonFox Posted 23 May 2006 Posted 23 May 2006 good riddance woolies. they had some right ugly munters work there and very unpleasant. WHSmith is already gone in the shires btw. John Lewis's will be returning to the new shires, i have seen the blueprints of the next gen shires

I think the (g)Haymarket will be being knocked down in the near future, it's wank, although that would mean the car park would go and I love parking there Im glad John Lewis is coming to the Shires, I like the one in Peterborough although John Lewis is not the same as the old Lewis's is it?
Steven Posted 23 May 2006 Posted 23 May 2006 You've not been looking very carefully have you? Mind you I'm not as not as bad as these: I see you go to Bankok Bob's website as well.
davieG Posted 23 May 2006 Posted 23 May 2006 I see you go to Bankok Bob's website as well. Every time someone spots one of my spelling mistakes, it's either that or the Marquis de Sade's flagellation site
Phube Posted 23 May 2006 Posted 23 May 2006 But who is the 'BIG' company, that's what I want to know!! It's not John Lewis, obviously. but who else don't we have that would invest a lot of money in the Haymarket??

syston_fox Posted 23 May 2006 Posted 23 May 2006 Some crazy foo with more money than sense! An official Amstrad shop then? But then again with quality products like this: http://www.amstrad.com/amsface/index.html it might not be a bad thing!
