Daggers Posted 28 May 2006 Posted 28 May 2006 7 miles south of Grantham ...there's a title for a book...
Finnegan Posted 28 May 2006 Author Posted 28 May 2006 Mountsorrel. A place to be proud of, ahem. 'Sorrel. I've only ever lived in one place in Leicester, though my parents hopped around Wales like crazy before we came here.
davieG Posted 28 May 2006 Posted 28 May 2006 'Sorrel. I've only ever lived in one place in Leicester, though my parents hopped around Wales like crazy before we came here. Were they a couple of Welsh rarebits then?
Thracian Posted 28 May 2006 Posted 28 May 2006 I was born in Belvoir Drive, moved to Glen Parva, South Wigston until I left home then Barrow upon Soar - Aylestone - Rushey Mead - East Goscote - Off Uppingham Road - Newfoundpool - Rushey Mead - East Goscote - Rowletts Hill - then 7 miles south of Grantham for the past 3 years! Anywhere near that pub -the Red Lion at Newton - which used to have people queuing through the village for its cold meat buffets?. If so is it still as good a place to get a meal as it used to be?
Finnegan Posted 29 May 2006 Author Posted 29 May 2006 Were they a couple of Welsh rarebits then? You just dethrowned TPH as King of farkin' ABYSMAL puns.
Rincewind Posted 29 May 2006 Posted 29 May 2006 City Centre not far from the station and the nightlife on London Road but problem is the bars are full of students,
gjp Posted 29 May 2006 Posted 29 May 2006 This thread brings back memories. I was 8 when I left Leicester to move to Bristol as my Dad was made redundant at a company called stibbys? Moorgate Avenue Birstall was where I lived and my eldest sis went to longslade me and my other sis went to Bishop Ellis. I have heard Birstall has gone downhill recently but I have got fond memories and never stopped being a fan of city and tigers.
foxgirl Posted 29 May 2006 Posted 29 May 2006 lived off Abbey Lane for a year at Bellevue Avenue. Moved to Glenfield at 1. Then at age 11 moved to Norfolk. In Swaffham and now Gayton.

New England Fox Posted 30 May 2006 Posted 30 May 2006 I lived on Beaumont Leys lane for the first 6 years of my life, then lived in Chesterfield for the next 6. Then moved to sunny Weston-super-Mare when I was 12. Stayed there until I was 26 and then moved to Fort Lauderdale Florida for a year and have been in East Haven Connecticut since April this year. All my family still live in Leicester though, i have an Aunt who lives on Anstey lane and a cousin in Coalville and another in Oadby plus a whole bunch of others I cant remember because I havent been back to Leicester anywhere near as much as I would have liked.
