Finnegan Posted 30 May 2006 Author Posted 30 May 2006 That's what happens when I leave. It was never in special measures when I was there. Did they have special measures in 1962?
Thracian Posted 30 May 2006 Posted 30 May 2006 I havent a clue where you mean Whoo hoo whereabouts in South? Newton's a hamlet just off the road from Grantham to Bourne. I used to play a squash pro there called Mike Scanlon and afterwards we'd feast on the cold meat buffet. People used to travel miles to sample it. The landlord never charged beforehand but only collected if his customers really enjoyed their feast. Queues stretched, literally, 50-100 metres into the village especially at weekends. The company to be found there was also exquisite. It's still there according to the Notts Pubs website.

I used to play for Bourne Town in the United Counties or Eastern Counties League (can never remember which) under a manager called Chris Notley. Best playing surface for miles around. Happy days!

lookwhaticando Posted 30 May 2006 Posted 30 May 2006 Castle Donnington was the last time I lived in the county - almost 19 years ago now Then I moved to Sandiacre (Notts), Oakwood (Derby), Daventry (Northants) then finally Ottawa (Canada's capital city) where I presently live (unfortunately)
ooh Tommy Posted 30 May 2006 Posted 30 May 2006 Born in Kingswinford, West Mids. Would probably have been a Villa fan had I not moved to Leicester when I was 5. Thank F**K we did move :fox:

Finnegan Posted 31 May 2006 Author Posted 31 May 2006 i rememeber playing against whitwick compass in what was nothing more than a glorified ploughed field! I remember Whitwick having a fairly dcecent pitch. That's got to be years ago now, though. Worst pitch ever really was a cow field, it had cow pat and everything. Kenilworth or somewhere. Edit: Kegworth, apparently.
Daggers Posted 31 May 2006 Posted 31 May 2006 Now lots of people have detailed where they live and, on another thread, where they are going on holiday - it only needs a bad'un to link it with the 'thing I can't do without' thread to form a decent blaggers shopping list...

Our pitch is quality, it's like playing on a brand new green carpet. Although the one you're on about might be different. Was it surrounded by fields and have a static caravan as a changing room? I live in kegworth...
Thracian Posted 1 June 2006 Posted 1 June 2006 Syston. lived here when i was till i was 3 on Wolsey Way. then lived in Anstey till i was 18 then moved to Syston again last june. What's that Turkish restaurant like in Syston? Is it worth a visit? My mum-in-law lives there, in College Road, and I drive past it every time I visit. It always looks inviting.
