MC Prussian Posted 10 June 2006 Posted 10 June 2006 Robinson - 7 Solid, not many scenes to intervene. Neville - 7 Solid in the back and a few good moves in the Paraguay half. A.Cole - 8 Man of the match IMO terry - 6 Nothing spectacular, never really tested Ferdinand - 7 A rock in the defense Beckham - 6 First half good, but somehow disappeared in the second J. Cole - 7 Ran his ass off - probably the most active midfielder today Lampard - 5 A few shots in the second half don't save him from playing shit Gerrard - 5 Total disappointment Crouch - 5 Hardly any drive towards the goal, moaner, without any compassion Owen - 4 Was he on the pitch at all? Downing - 6 Quick on his feet, but poor ball control, not enough impact in the 2nd half Hargreaves - 6 No impact on the game

Thracian Posted 10 June 2006 Posted 10 June 2006 Robinson 6 (Sod all to do) Neville 6 (Contributed nothing of consequence one way or another) Terry 7 (At least looked animated) Ferdinand 6 (Just routine) Cole 6 (Effort but no special effect) Beckham 6 (Effected the goal. Otherwise disappointing) Lampard 5 (Hardly at his most effective and all but one of his shots were woeful) Gerrard 7 (Usual focus and commitment - booked for a tackle that didn't get anywhere near the player) Joe Cole 7 (Lively and focused. Tried to galvanise a team which didn't want to be galvanised) Crouch 7 (As good as anyone but was always short of service and support after our goal) Owen 5 (Not fit and never at the races) Downing 4 (Two promising runs which finished in a blind alley) Hargreaves 3 (Cannot remember anythjing of importance from him)

Ultra Posted 10 June 2006 Posted 10 June 2006 I'd go with that. Beckham and Cole were far and away our best players today. Really? Then why was our midfield so poor in the second half? We gave away possession far too often. Those two were as guilty as anyone else. The centre-backs were the key to the win today. They shut out the Paraguay strikers throughout the game. My marks Robinson - 6 Neville - 5 Terry - 8 Ferdinand - 7 A. Cole - 6 Beckham - 6 Lampard - 6 Gerrard - 6 J. Cole - 7 Owen - 5 Crouch - 6 Subs Downing - 6 Hargreaves - 6
Stevosevic Posted 11 June 2006 Posted 11 June 2006 I'd go with that. Beckham and Cole were far and away our best players today. Beckham? Cole alone was our best player, everyone else were nothing more than poor.
Guest Gist Posted 11 June 2006 Posted 11 June 2006 I'd give them a combined average rating of 6 only Joe Cole seemed up for the challenge IMO.
Swedging Posted 11 June 2006 Posted 11 June 2006 Really? Then why was our midfield so poor in the second half? We gave away possession far too often. Those two were as guilty as anyone else. The centre-backs were the key to the win today. They shut out the Paraguay strikers throughout the game. The ball was given away all around the park. Poor work from Terry gave Paraguay their best chance, too (apart from maybe the Robinson flap). And Beckham won a tackle!
