But, the club are looking to get loan deals for Sheehan and Porter to make them mature a little bit.

On the contrary, I think Thrac might be pleased!

He raved about O'Grady's loan spell, there's no reason these lads can't/wont imrpove as O'Grady did.

If 5 months on loan can do for Sheehan/Porter what it did for O'Grady, they'll come back and more likely get a chance in our own first team.

Trust me he wont be as happy about this as you think.

I am not happy about this either!! Sheehan should be in the first team!

i dont think so, hasnt impressed when he has played. also i hear he has a very bad attitude and is one of these cocky t**ts, maybe this could be his downfall.

Okay so he isn't the best defender in the world, but he's got a quality cross, good shot, and overs good options when going forwards. He's the best dead ball specialist we have at the club as well. I actually think he'd be better as a wingback (maybe like guppy) or even as a winger or left midfilder.

i am not doubting his ability, but doesnt deserve to be in the starting 11 yet.

Why not? He's played well in the reserves and was the academy player of the year. The left back slot was a problomatic postion last year and I dare say I fear it might be again this term. Why shouldn't he be given a chance?

he should and I imagine in time he will. however imho Johansson is the better defender and adds experience to an inexperienced defense and therefore is an asset in that position

Which club? Perhaps the same club can take all our young players and I can go and watch them for a season cos if you think I want to watch the likes of Nils, Tiatto, Maybury, Hughes and Williams for another year forget it.

Sending Sheehan and Porter on loan is just another way of making sure the Chosen Men don't get challenged, as I've already predicted. Kelly harks back to his father being in the motor industry and he's bringing some of those principles to City...ie the Closed Shop.

As for Sly's comment, sad to say you're pissing in the wind. There is non so blind as those who won't see and there's some on this forum wouldn't have wanted to change their outside loos, let alone their exprienced, competitive, dourly reliable, over defensive football team one little bit.

Forty six Battles of Millwall will do em fine. Pity we finished 16th as a result and our crowds are dropping faster than we were at one time. They didn't even want the team changed when we were safe!. I'll make a prediction. If we carry on down this road of endless lack of enterprise we'll go broke.

Football is not all about strength and aggression it's also about skill and cleverness. I can't remember Johan Cruyff or Matt Le Tissier takling anyone but they sure made mugs of a few and they sure put bums on seats.

If Leicester cannot find a place for Sheehan and Porter in such a mediocre team of spoilers then neither are going to get a game in future. As I said last season. The sooner they leave the better if they really want a first team future somewhere - and more so now that there's effectively no reserve team.

I suppose this is the first indication of what that change is going to mean for the club and it doesn't auger well.

So you dont think a loan spell for either player will be beneficial then.

Stearman and Wesolowski didn't have loan spells that I recall and both were the unfinished article when they arrived on the first team scene, Stearman particularly.

In some circumstances it might have been the right thing to do but our club needs to start making some progress now and more of the same is not an option I want to contemplate.

Normally, there would be better all round players at Leiceser in the left-back and crfeative midfield roles but that is simply not the case. It is just that the defensive qualities of the prsent incumbents seem more highly regarded than the attacking qualities of the options - and that in an already defensive side.

I also think it is a pity we seem to fail to "finish" our own players properly but I've referred to that previously.

I don't know whether a loan spell would help either of these players, what we shouldn't assume is that all 'young uns' should go out on loan.

It will be the right decision for some but not others, this is where good man management comes in, the manager needs to get to know and understand the individual, for some a loan could have a devastating detrimental affect at that age, even older players have regretted moving clubs because they've missed being at home. We shouldn't mock them for that we should understand that everyone is different in the same way that some players you kick up the arse the others you put an arm around their shoulder.

Hopefully RK looks at the big picture, including the individual need, the needs of the team and maintaining competition etc.

What is interesting is that both these players are left sided the area that nearly everyone concedes is our weakest area so letting these two go out on loan, purely from a 'team' perspective seems somewhat muddled thinking.

no 2 players are exactly the same. Stearman didnt need a loan period O'Grady did and gained greatly from it. I can count on 1 hand the number of times Wesolowski has played so who is to say he wont also go out on loan. I personally doubt it but it may happen. If Porter or Sheehan get loaned out to a League 1 or 2 club I can only envisage them and Leicester gaining from the experience

Uh-oh, it's started. :pinch:

I envision a discussion extending over at least 6 pages.

Hope you're sitting comfortably everyone

I sympathise with your comments. Indeed I'm unhappy that I feel so passionate about it myself. The only reason I'll be stocking up on wine now is to nullify the senses, to sleep through what lies ahead.

And just imagine we win at Luton...it will guarantee the status quo for another few weeks.

It's a bit of a no-win situation.

To get the 'Chosen Few' out we have to have a bad start.

If we have a bad start, we're on the backfoot for a good chunk of the season (again).

The best we can hope for is injury/suspension.

I want a good start, but hopefully some of our lesser-desired players will get themselves out of action for a while by getting crocked or suspended. Then hopefully the replacements prove themselves worthy enough not to be replaced later (think Henderson replacing Douglas late last season).

Let's hope Tiatto hasn't calmed down at all. I'm hoping for a bull-in-the-china-shop attitude from him, should get himself booked nice and early with luck.

You need to lighten up Thracian, and that it’s only a game!
