What a rip off

That's the only reasonable way to describe today's game. Functional footall. three points. A third clean sheet.

But about as entertaining and enterprising as watching a parade of pensioners.

Keep the Faith? What a joke.

Kelly showed no faith whatever but took our team back in time like he'd found the key to the Tardis.

I paid £29 for that shit and was rewarded with a 25 minute attempt at proper football.

I had to shout at Nils that we were playing in blue and the idea wasn't to pass alternatively between blue and red.

Whoever said Kenton was an attacking full-back I'd suggest he auditions quickly for something in comedy.

Stearman showed more inititative in a few minutes than Kenton did all game.

Hughes got himself into the box - a big plus - but he wouldn't have scored even if he'd been a monk in a convent.

The Chosen Men were what they've always been, boringly functional footballers. We could have gone a goal or two down and chance for chance it must have finished about even which is remarkable because Southend wouldn't compete with our best side.

In fact they didn't compete for a while when Levi came on - at least until they were presumably ordered into "hold on" mode by which time Hughes had squandered a chance my mother could have taken and Levi must have been thinking one of the "establishment" was trying to make him look like an arsehole.

That it finishied 1-0 means of course that Kelly will continue with more of the same bland and tasteless recipe instead of taking us to places we want to go.

Three players: Kisnorbo, O'Grady and Porter came out with credit. and I reckon City owe about £20 back to anyone who paid £29 to watch cos the rest was dire.

Best part of the day, apart from Kissa 's goal and Levi's tee-up was meeting The Singh cos he was always interesting and full of positive thoughts.

You absolute cretin Thracian, the players gave their all today. Ok we're not Chelsea or Barca but i really enjoyed today’s game behind the goal giving my full support to every thing the players did. If I have to read one more of Thracians posts on here i think i might slit my wrist

thrac for once in your life be happy and satisfied with a win and refrain from being over critical, ffs we got a good performance and a 1-0 win against a team full of confidence and on a good run. be happy for a change, who knows you may even enjoy it

The result was fine but the performance sold Leicester City shorter than Levi Porter. we're better than that, loads better but we picked a team that was never going to reproduce the passing and movement of Tuesday's game against Macclesfield, or anything like. If you're happy enjoy it, by all means but it just provides an excuse to persevere with the same formula. I'd prefer we were winning and demonstrating that we are developing some style. Don't expect me to be satisfied with functional victories cos I'm not.

You could've got in for £22 if you sat in the North or South stand, so you can't complain about paying £29.

But thats what you need to do sometimes in the Championship. Sometimes you need to win while not playing at your full potential, I wouldn't be too discouraged because we can play well and will play well Thrac. Remember also that this league's opposition is slightly better than League 2's so its more difficult to play the passing game all the time.

I gather the club need the money and judging by the spaces that can't be far wrong. :)

Okay. Marvellous game. Spellbound by our inventive football. Nils and Tiatto must amount to the most exciting, adventurous, left sided assault force I've ever seen in City colours and how Kenton managed to emulate their example is beyond human expectation but he did and was all but matched by Hughes who could clearly fill in as a striker any time we have injury problems or loss of form. Wonderful. Double the entrance fee would have been cheap for such non-stop attacking entertainment. Well done Leicester. Well done Rob Kelly. Bring on Mnchester United.

That okay for you?!

Certainly will be if you don't play a passing side!

It is a rip off to be fair.

But I'd rather pay good money and see us win scrappily, rather than play like the Arsenal of the Championship and get beat.

Winning, however it is acheived, is the most enjoyable aspect of football and the best thing for the club.

guys we were absolutely shite apart from a corner we looked like a mid-bottom championship side at best. and the entertainment was wank but we won so who gives a shit.

be happy, when your smiling :)

Cast your minds back to the dark days under Adams and Levein when we lost games at home to Brighton, Rotherham etc.

When you look back at how poor our home form has been for the last two seasons today's vistory says to me we're moving in the right direction.

We were crap first half until we scored and Tiatto apart from the cross for the goal was his usual erratic self. As for Nills why does Kelly still pick him. Second half was much better and Levi was impressive and deserves a run in the side. At the end of the day you go to a game expecting to get see something happen and be entertained. If you're a neutral you wouldn't be that impressed by Leicester's performance today but as a Leicester fan i couldn't give a toss because we have 3 points. Face it we're nowhere good enough for the Premieship on the basis of the start to the season and any fan who expected promotion this season is living in a dream World which is why i'll try to enjoy the victories when they come.

It doesn't matter if you win 5-0 or 1-0 a wins a win.

A job had be done today and the lads did it well. We're improving step by step and I believe in the next 3-4 months we'll be top half of the table with the possibility of maybe pushing for a play off spot. I truly believe in what Kelly’s doing is best for the team and the club and we've got a cracking group of players who all want to achieve. Have faith my fellow foxes, remember the good and the bad times and look to the future because it's looking alright, trust me!

And Tuesday's came was so much better?

I don't think so.

a win is not the same as any other win. Like Thrac I agree we should and deserve better than that when we are paying customers. Levi was a breath of fresh air but Kelly will stick with Tiatto . Nisse was piss poor and his crosses abysmal. Where was Sheehan? Dying for a run and sitting upstairs all dressed up with a coat n tie looking like an accountant With Weso. And Wes dropped from the bench n not playing. I'd say Weso kiss goodbye to any bonus you would have got today as a sub, but more importantly dont get a visa for Kuwait to play for your country 'coz I bet your not going.

Enrich me with some logic and I might but I've seen none so far.

Ipswich was a start and against Macclesfield, with an appropriate line-up, we really did look like a side which flowed in an attacking sense.

We had goodish balance, passed and moved accurately, maintained consistent width and created lots of chances.

Kelly's reaction? He reverted to functional, safety first football which won't, I repeat won't lead us upwards and out of this division.

What might do, just, is the fast zonal covering we have now together with accurate passing.

When we had some today we created two chances in quick succession which could so easily have given us a flattering 3-0 win. We briefly took Southend apart, and pretty dramatically when Levi danced his way through.

There really is no sense in playing people who cannot pass unless there's no alternative. The only one whose football deserves some licence is Kisnorbo. Because he is the super glue that's holding our team together right now.

Otherwise, our major problem is failing to seamlessly link defence with attack. People say it doesn't matter so long as you win but development does matter and we will need to improve dramatically to have any chance of breaking into the top six.

Today's starting line-up just won't do that because too many of those players have already demonstrated their passing imitations on numerous occasions.

Sorry but I think some people are losing the plot.

first let's put macclesfield into context. without doubt they were one of the very worst sides ever to play against us and they will be very lucky to survive in the football league. yes we beat them but only 2-0 with one goal scored very late on. frankly if we couldn't have beaten them then it would have been a disgrace. yes we played some half decent football but we were allowed to by a VERY ordinary side.

secondly we just don't have the players to play a wonderful passing game. if we did we would already be in the premiership. we don't have a left back (please don't start another bloody sheehan thread!) nor do we have any wide players who can hold the ball (porter is as yet unproven and someone needs to tell him how to shoot) our midfield isn't creative enough to play the beatiful game and at present we don't seem to have any strikers who can even get into goalscoring postions let alone put the ball in the net.

and just who are the "chosen ones"? and what are the alternatives? let me guess

nils replaced by sheehan yawn

kenton replaced by stearman (replacing a solid in form defender with an out of form teenager)

hughes replaced by ???? an unfit wesolowski? an enigmatic williams??

tiatto replaced by a traffic cone!

The truth is we won yes we won yet some people are not happy. they are old enough to recall the leeds side of the 1970 one of the best and most successful teams in league and cup history did they play wonderful passing football? not always like all the best sides the learnt to win ugly.
