Best Bassline Ever

Recommended Posts

Some of my faves are:

Hysteria - Muse

Lounge Act - Nirvana

The National Anthem - Radiohead

Some quality ones there.

Would add;

Nirvana - Come As You Are

White Stripes - Seven Nation Army (strictly speaking not bass guitar but sounds like it)

As the good man TPH says, lots of RHCP, specifically Mellowship Slinky in B Major

Some more are:

Muse -T.I.R.O

Pumpkins - Bullet with butterfly wings

Loadsa Rage ones I s'pose, but they're mainly just the same as the guitar riff.

cant say one individual song but adequate 7, funky slapping styleee

This man speaks much truth. Final gig tomorrow, well excited like.

Not really one for slapping to be honest. Any motown record that James Jamerson played on should be in the list for sure. Best bass player of all time imo.

The best basslines are often the simplest and catchiest. I know its cheesy, but could you imagine Another One Bites The Dust without the bassline?

The Breeders - Cannonball

Stone Roses - Fools Gold

I reckon I Wanna Be Adored is Mani's best bassline

Fugazi - Waiting Room

the song starts with the best bassline ever imo

That is some good playing indeed.

I rather like:

Stranglers - Princess Of The Streets

Discharge - Ain't No Feeble Bastard

Stranglers - Five Minutes

Actually most early stuff by The Stranglers qualifies

Just what I was going to say, likewise with 'she bangs the drums' Or Tom Morello for RATM.

Maybe not the best, but certainly one of the most famous ones (and still excellent mind): Nirvana's "Come As You Are"

I'm standing by the George Baker Selection - Little Green Bag as number one, but I'd like to take the opportunity to nominate Rancid - Sidekick as a close second. :D

Tom Morello is the guitar player.

But the bass in RATM mainly replicates the guitar so I'll let you off. :P

Ace shout with the Stranglers. Lots of top basslines there.
