Turtles Head Posted 16 January 2007 Posted 16 January 2007 Ive got a job interview in Leicester tomorrow as a Trainee within a marketing company. You have to have no experience which is good for me and they train you from scratch. But was wondering if anyone on here knows what kind of things i might be asked? I dont even know what kind of thing i might be doing if i were to get the job. All will be revealed.... Also(this is aimed to the fashion savvy amongst y'all) rather than the crabby traditional look of black trousers/white shirt, im thinkin of goin black trousers, black shirt. Thoughts?

Smudge Posted 16 January 2007 Posted 16 January 2007 Four quick questions they will possibly ask Why do you want the job? What do you know about the company? What do you bring to the company that will add value? Whats your greatest weakness? These are questions often asked at interviews for perhaps more senior jobs but it's worth thinking about them. Suggested answers: - I'm not sure what your motives are but make sure you think about it but do not say you need the money. Quick research on Google etc. They should be impressed if you have taken the time to find out who they are.....shows initiative, self starting abilities. Companies want employees who can think for themselves other than just do as their told......the army being the exception. Think about what talents you have........like good interpersonal skills i.e good conversationalist, think about what they do and how you can support or add to that. This is a hard one but make sure you don't say that you don't have any. Skilled interviewers will make you do the talking, they never ask closed questions whereby the only answer is yes or no. They ask open questions like Why would you.........Whats your view on.......... Be concise and be careful not to prompt a further question which leads you down a path where you don't want to go. One interviewer trick is to se if they can get you riled up. Unlikely at your age but it's a killer. The questions start by prompting something that clearly might niggle you, they then push and prod until you show anger or deal with it in a calmer way. Make sure you have questions about the company and the job, remember you are interviewing them as well. Include questions about the future of the company and your future....where do they see the job holder in three years. Ask them to explain the training scheme. Wait for them to discuss salary and benefits, if they do not by the end of the interview it's reasonable to ask at that time. Some interviewers prefer to discuss this if you are the sucessful candidate or are on the short list. Don't be surprised if they don't tell you. The best advice I ever got from the man who first interviewed me at the age of 18 said, "Be indispensible to the person you work for, whoever it is" That was the best advice I ever had, pity I didn't always adhere to it Just a few thoughts......I hope this helps and the best of luck.
Janx Posted 16 January 2007 Posted 16 January 2007 here to help.... good advice from Smudge... 2 things from me... Not sure about the mafia look...(thats just me personal) Marketing Company...hmmI have seen a LOT of these things before... its up to you, but I have a feeling it may be door to door selling discount cards or changeover leccy and gas type thing.. CAN be lucrative, but not the best in the winter. I Will say one thing about those jobs... if you can stick it for 6-12 months they are a brilliant way of "proving yourself" and then using it to get a "proper" sales job. Please dont think I'm pi55ing on yer chips, but like I say ...seen a lot of these things... I could be wrong... tell me .. how did you hear about it, and what details do you have on the company?

Lineker's Left Foot Posted 16 January 2007 Posted 16 January 2007 Just be yourself. A good tip if your nervous is to place your hands on your knees and try to keep them there if you can. Just take your time with answering and if they provide water, have a drink when they ask the question to let you contemplate (give you time to think) about what you will say. Good luck

(franchise or associate programme) Millionaire status when you have about 500 of em!
