There's only one Martin George, one Martin George

My experience of extremely wealthy people is that they really don't need that sort of ego boost.

Many are extremely quiet, polite, understated people who do enormous amounts for charity, for any number of worthy causes and thoroughly enjoy being able to help people.

When Martin George watches football - the youth team as well as the first team, I'm told - I am quite sure it is because he thoroughly enjoys it and finds it relaxing.

I'd be extremely surprised if his motive was to demonstrate his wealth and one-upmanship.

Martin George and people like him mightnot be perfect. But he and people like him have kept people in jobs across considerable swathes of land and for enormous periods of time. The least they deserve is some respect. Especially as they are unlikely to dignify your comments with a reply.

I wonder what sort of person you would be if you were paid or inherited millions.

A socialist benefactor who would scorn the money and donate it all to Greenpeace no doubt. Like Blair and Two Jags and all their cronies.

And why the down on golf? It is a bloodygood game and a pretty natural game for ageing sporstmen to play when there's damn all else their bodies will co-operate with.

And when I play - which is often - I play with, let me see, falconcers, restauranteurs, jobless benefit claimants, millionaires, my kids, retired car workers, groundstaff, what have you.

It doesn't matter. You're the man when you slot a birdie and the idiot when you hook out of bounds - whoever you are.

And as for your hero Mandaric. He makes an art form of spending as little as possible so he can squeeze as much out at the other end. That isn't a class thing. It's what loads of people do every day. It's just that some have more nerve, front, imagination, self-belief than others and good luck to em cos when they blow it there's often precious little sympathy and a whole stack of abuse.

But mostly people like MM start with little ventures before they bought football clubs. It's the survivors buy into the big deals. The toughest, hardest street fighters of the lot and most, far from lacking "bottle" are simply not noted for either overpaying or making stupid decisions.

What is with you and wealth and success? Are you going to label someone a status seeking, stuck up, shoulder-rubbing, privileged show off just because, say, they spend years training to become a surgeon or a a lawyer or a busienssman and then get the rate for a job - which is a lot?

How would you justfiy that if they were just a fan like yourself. Or do you think all fans are moronic nonentities with no ambition and who are going nowhere?.

!st of all i'd like to say i cannot believe i have been moderated again!

I don't play golf not thats important but i do not wish to be associated with that sport

I'm not against sucessful people just those who i see as in a very privalaged position as having a say at our club but don't seem to make the obvious decision very quickly and no that is not after 3 months.

Also i have an issue with those who are holding MG as a standard as to which all future LCFC chairmen should aspire to. The best things i can say about MG was that he never over spent quite the oposite but still we never went out of business, he hired Brian Little who did wonders in his time, but also you could say he also hired Pleat so all in all he was not too good realy in my book.

your wasting your time Thrac, give it a few months and they'll be starting a Manderic out thread.

didn't see him jumping to the clubs rescue when we were in administration far as I am concerned he made some excellent choices of manager back in the day but he's had his chance time to move on we need some fresh ambition and ideas in this club

Condescending remarks will get you everywhere. You must be such a better supporter than those with similar views to me.

MG would have been better if he hired better more scucessful Managers on a regular basis i.e not Pleat (not that he wanted Pleat to fail its just on judgement) and dipped into is admittedly short pockets in comparison to MM.

MM has a good record, but i could not give a monkeys whatsits about that i'm a LCFC supporter and want to see that scuccess here money or no money I don't care

Many, sadly, aren't like that, though. I've met a couple I've disliked for their barely restrained contempt of any who aren't as them.

But here I'd agree with you. If anyone wanted to have a dig, you'd have thought it would be because he doesn't do the showy stuff enough.

i happen to know someone who worked in his office, she said he was an awful, miserable bastard, but that's not the point. why are we critisizing him? has he tried to block the bid? this is all based on an unsubstansiated rumour started by someone who knows no more than the rest of us.

I think you'll find MG's selection of managers stands up well against MMs and as for how much money they put in or might well you're just guessing.

Please don't interpret that as support for either of them.

You maybe right but the words David Pleat still run an icy tingle down my back gruuuuuuuuuahh

I didn't bring up the generic condemnation of every shareholder because they might happen to be wealthy.

But seeing you asked for one paragraph I don't think us and them class "attitudes" are any more worthy or justified than social "airs".

You forget it took Pompey five years to get in the Premiership under Mandaric and he appointed a number of Managers before he got it right. The fact he had to reappoint Redknapp to avoid relegation proves he isn't perfect plus how many Promotions or trophies have the various clubs he has owned won? Everyone makes mistakes why should Mandaric be any different.

Silly drivel again.."class" "attitude" "worthy" "social"...you think words like that impress..we can all use them.... but here?..you sound silly to be honest

My Real beef/s with MG was that HE got himself into a position of power, and season after season the supporters of the club had to sit and watch as Forest, Derby, and the others, spend countless Mi£Â£ions on Class players, OTHER CHAIRMEN PUT THEIR HANDS IN THEIR POCKETS, while he sat at the top of the tree at our club, money coming out of his ears, absoloutley rolling in dosh, flying around in that fecking helicopter, then when being interviewed giving these smarmy political obnoxious type answers to straight forward question.

It would be like Milan Mandaric taking over at LCFC and not being prepared to spend any of his dosh would anybody stand for it ? of course not, you would say why the **** are you here, whats the point, whats your point ?

MM & MG CHALK AND CHEESE TOTAL OPPOSITES OF THE SPECTRUM !!

One is a man of the people, kind, sympathetic, and generous..

The other would'nt spit on you if you were on fire!!!

and before anybody says MG was elected and did not own the club, well thats not the point, you should not put yourself forward for a job like that, at a club like LCFC, if your not prepared get your hand in your pocket.....AND BLOODY DEEP!!!

Are you trying to suggest half the site can only posts in language of single syllables and that two/three syllable words are really beyond their comprehension or misplaced in any case among football fans?.

Cos I've never noticed it.

He's not going to spend his dosh. Realise it now - he's going to lend money. That may be good, it may be bad, but he is not spending money.

But your o.t.t rantings are not really necessary...you do know your stuff I admit, but you do tend to "go off on one" from time to time!..shall we hold a pole to see who agrees?

After reading the past 6 pages.....I'd just like to say does the following few things:

1) We have no control of who buys the club, so why are we even debating this?

2) I love Leicester but I, like many of you assume, would never invest money I a football club.

3) These people are rich becuase they are good at putting little money in and getting good returns out. Succesful teams are the ones that are either established or have some suger daddy throwing money at them becuase they have little else to do.

There are thousands of us and today we should make ourselves heard!

We want our Leicester back

I don't have any sort of flag to wave for Martin George. I don't know him. He might be an arsehole. But it doesn't make all wealthy shareholders areseholes and being so condemning of MG grates a bit when he's not on here to reply. That's all.

I never said or implied it did, LISTEN am sure you would very much enjoy a MG "SPEECH" after he had told you absolutely NOTHING..... in great detail, lol
