The People's Hero Posted 30 January 2007 Posted 30 January 2007 Would it be fair to say that even when he was Chairman, Martin didn't in fact own a great deal of shares? I get the impression he never had a controlling interest. If you don;t have that, then it is difficult to put more money in, especially if the other shareholders are not willing to dilute thei % shareholding or stump up more themsleves. Maybe this time he wants complete control, and is willing to pay for it. 100% control means control over where your money gets spent. Spot on... and it's what I'm hoping. That said - it should focus MM's mind a little.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 30 January 2007 Posted 30 January 2007 Anyone with delusions of how great MG was in his time at LCFC are just plain MAD! He never invested in the club, the fanzine Where has all the money gone was around in his reign and that was no coincidence. Most on here wont remember him as chairman but all i remember was that was his reign was a long line of shysters who were status grabing non investing turds to infest our club for so long now! Martin George will be no differant if his past is to go by! Fook off Where is Milan Yes you're right there !! Martin George put no investment in our club whatsoever, as far as real major signings are concerned, and I don't know why people are singing his praises !! I can remember in the late 80s/early 90s when City fans were singing 'What do we want? George Out What do we want? Board Out' No MG couldn't give a monkies as far as investment is concerned!!
Geo V Posted 30 January 2007 Posted 30 January 2007 Well if Martin George is going to come galloping in I hope he doesn't leave it too late. In some ways relegation might be a blessing - but it would be nice to effect positive change without going down. A blessing if you think that going out of business can be regarded as a blessing! So where has all of this MG stuff started then?!!
Lord Nibblington Posted 30 January 2007 Posted 30 January 2007 A blessing if you think that going out of business can be regarded as a blessing! So where has all of this MG stuff started then?!! With a song.
Jon the Hat Posted 30 January 2007 Posted 30 January 2007 Yes you're right there !! As I said above there could be many reasons why he wasn't able or willing to put more money in. Probably control. If your fellow shareholders won't put more in or dilute their holding then you are stuffed.
ithuriel Posted 30 January 2007 Posted 30 January 2007 whatever the reasons , he did not put any great ammounts of cash into the club and i doubt he would this time either.
renards Posted 30 January 2007 Posted 30 January 2007 whatever the reasons , he did not put any great ammounts of cash into the club and i doubt he would this time either. MM will not put great amounts into City, he will either loan it to the company or the company will borrow it Which ever way the club will be it debt to that amount, risky but we need to speculate
Jon the Hat Posted 30 January 2007 Posted 30 January 2007 whatever the reasons , he did not put any great ammounts of cash into the club and i doubt he would this time either. But you are willing to believe MM will put in loads? On what do you base either assumption?

Hmmmmm, not sure you have got it right there old boy, the real demo's were the Shipman era and the Blackburn fiasco was the boiling and turning point. George took over and brought in Little and tghe rest is history. There were some initial complaints about 'where's the money gone' but there is no arguing the Club was in a much better state than under Shipman and Co. Things are afoot.
lookwhaticando Posted 31 January 2007 Posted 31 January 2007 Martin George was the chap who decided the club ought to sack Wise, wasn't he? If so, get him in.

Lester LXXIV Posted 31 January 2007 Posted 31 January 2007 Still no more light shed on this 'rumour' then?
ithuriel Posted 31 January 2007 Posted 31 January 2007 But you are willing to believe MM will put in loads? On what do you base either assumption? talk about assumption , show mer a thread where i state MM will put in loads come on , show me as for george , his past history here is enough.
Leicfox Posted 31 January 2007 Posted 31 January 2007 i won't even ask you to expand on that, i just find these cryptic posts and hints at insider knowledge (without actually telling us anything) intensely frustrating!! Yeah i agree, attention seeking.
Daggers Posted 31 January 2007 Posted 31 January 2007 It's not even a proper name...he's just got two first names and wedged them together.
Jon the Hat Posted 31 January 2007 Posted 31 January 2007 talk about assumption , show mer a thread where i state MM will put in loads come on , show me as for george , his past history here is enough. You'd be a fool to assume MG would put no cash into the club now becuase he hasn't in the past, at a time when he didn't control the club. If you owned a house with 3 partners, would you spend £50k on an extension if it meant you still only owned 1/4 of the house and they refused to pay their share?
Daggers Posted 31 January 2007 Posted 31 January 2007 This isn't a proper thread. There is nothing of substance here whatsoever...it's like our midfield *boom* *boom*

fox123 Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 BF you started this thread, but never have you given any evidence or justification why! My feelings are that MG is not interested in investing into this club and would like to see the point behind this thread!?

fox123 Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Where did I say he was investing money Just trying to find the reasoning behind the thread!?
Daggers Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Where did I say he was investing money So far you haven't said a thing...aside from declaring your undying love for Martin George ~ but he's married so it's only going to end in tears.
Babylon Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 So far you haven't said a thing He never does!!!! He is the master of stringing people along with sound bites like "things are afoot", "the truth is out there", "you'll know it when you see it". The problem is people fall for it. I can't remember anything of substance ever being posted, maybe he does know stuff but he is yet to prove it.
