IT'S OFFICIAL IT'S ON THE OS NOW HE HAS SIGNED ON LOAN TILL THE END OF THE SEASON

Leicester City today (Wednesday) completed the signing of Sheffield United striker Geoff Horsfield on loan until the end of the season, subject to FL paperwork approval.

The 33-year-old former Fulham, Wigan, Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion hitman becomes Rob Kelly's first capture of the January transfer window, and will be available for Saturday's Championship clash against Luton Town at the Walkers Stadium.

Horsfield has scored an impressive 105 goals from 235 starts during his professional, and will bring a wealth of experience to the Foxes squad.

City boss Rob Kelly said: "We have been after Geoff for a while, but we have not had the finances to do the deal.

"He gives us something different up front. He has a physical presence, experience and knows the division.

"He's not played for a little while, so we will need to get him up to speed. But I think he will be a good addition for us."

Having began his career at non-league level, Horsfield finally got his big break when he signed for Fulham from Halifax Town for £300,000 in 1998.

The Barnsley-born centre-forward hit 22 goals in just 54 league starts for the Cottagers, and that form saw Birmingham fork out £2.25m for his services in 2000.

Horsfield proved to also be a big hit at St Andrew's, scoring 23 goals from 75 starts for the Blues. A £1 million move to Wigan Athletic followed in September 2003, before West Brom stepped in with a move for the striker just three months later.

Horsfield then joined Sheffield United for an initial loan spell in February 2006 before making the switch permanent that summer. A loan spell to Leeds United followed earlier this season, before the player returned to Bramall Lane in December.

The player has been handed the number nine shirt.

The usual blahblah...

Wealthy experience... (at switching clubs)

Impressive goalscorer... (Yeah, his last best season was like 4 years ago)

"He gives us something different up front... "(Like what?)

Oh yeah... "He has not played for a little while"

Question is: Who are the other signings going to be?

"...becomes Rob Kelly's first capture of the January transfer window,..."
