I should get to see it in about September at a guess.

I can't wait.

I don't want anyone to spoil it for me though... so once it's being broadcast, I shall completely ignore this thread until it's being broadcast this side of the pond.

I think it's a brilliant series, hence my excitement for the forthcoming series.

Shame the second will be the last, but there's only so far you can go with the story-line. :(

Its a great show alright. I didnt realise they were doing more so its good news to hear it`ll be back soon.

Good job someone told you, then, or you'd be missing out big time.

I knew a second series was in the offing before I'd finished watching the first. ;)

Mate, these days i dont know whether I am coming or going! Its good to know a decent show is going to season 2 because most of the shows I have liked usually get cancelled after a while (Max & Paddy, the Office, Phoenix Nights, Royale Family). TV is so shite these days that I avoid aload of it but Im sure there are some gems amongst them. I used to watch Teachers but I think that was pulled too?!

Anyway, Im tired after a nights gambling and the bed awaits!

I know Teachers in the US got pulled after a brief run... couldn't tell you about the proper version.

I've seen neither... but I'd like to see the US one as it features Sarah Alexander.

;)

You want to be careful about blurring the lines between end-of-season and cancelled. The Office had reached a natural conclusion at the time - Brent got terminated, end of season. Writers decision more than anything, I'd have thought. Similarly Royle Family I reckon - writers decide to quit while they're ahead, or at least take a respite.

The danger is, if you don't quit at some point, you invariably run out of new stuff to do - and you just recover old ground. ;)

I'm a fan of short series, and a few of them. Coupling got stretched too far by Series 4 - there was a distinct repetition of old jokes in some episodes, and the new character was shit. lol

I'll probably be disappointed when LOM2 ends... but probably relieved at the same time... there's a massive risk that a third series would be a bridge too far, and that'd be tragic.

I know there are a few who like it on here, so lets work ourselves up into a frenzy about the start of the second series (either on the 12th or 13th of February).

Oh, and everyone watch the ad for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awaAjDPHQX8

that ad is the (maybe) best thing i've ever seen! i can't wait for loms2 but i just feel loms1 will be hard to better

You wont need to worry because I think this has been confirmed as the second and final series.

Saw the ad after MOTD last night and knew it had to be posted on here.

As it's a fixed amount of episodes overall and they're not going for further series, I think it should be as good as the first series, often series decrease in quality when they have no fixed ending point and are just stringing out the storyline, this time we know what we have to find out by the end and when that end is going to be.

I understand actors not wanting to get too bogged down by one character but it seems the modern thing is to do something for a series or two and throw the towel in, regardless of what we want who watch the shows!

Anyway, roll on Life on Mars

I know... it has indeed been confirmed as the final series.

That was my point - as disappointed as I will be upon conclusion of the series for good, part of me will be pleased that it's ended. You can't be disappointed by a further series if it doesn't happen. ;)

A crap later series would just mar (haha) the whole experience.

Just look at Nighty Night - the first series was fantastic, I thought. I was hoping for big things of the second series... but it was utter wank. And that's putting it mildly. The second series is so bad, I refuse to acknowledge it's existence half the time.

I have high hopes for Life on Mars and I believe they will be met, and probably exceeded.

It's a story-line thing more than an actor thing. There's only so far you can run with the story without it just turning into a regular pig program based in 1970.

As I've stated elsewhere, there's also the risk that a following series will be shit in the worst possible sense, and it changes people's perceptions of the program. As I outline above, for me, Nighty Night series two was possibly the worst follow-up series I've ever seen. The stuff she did in series one was wacky, the stuff she did in series two was just too much. They dragged the program from edginess and to the extreme. They really overcooked it, far too much outrageous sillyness and seemingly no proper plot at all.

Massively disappointed. I'm glad that ended after two (would have been happier if it ended after one) because I dread to think what she'd have been doing in series three.

You could lend a hand, I am sure... :P

I think they decided from the start it was only going to be one or two series. With the subject matter they have to give an expain ation at some point and if they string it out a lot of viewers will see it as just another cop series. Not sure if it was adapted from a book either which would be a good reason not to have any more. But it is like a novel in a way each episode there are more clues and things happening that link the two time zones. I'll look forward to it with much eagerness. :D

You can watch the first two episodes on Tuesday, with the first one being on at 9pm on BBC1 and the second being on BBC4 at 10pm.

I'll do that and then get impatient and have to wait 2 weeks for a new one.

Did you HAVE to tell me that? :/
