bold_fox Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 thought it'd be good to get peoples thoughts of young Mark Yeates so far. Given that its only been a few games its difficult to make a proper assessment, but i think the lads done really well.... He's obviously got pace and skill. I think he may need to bulk out a bit if he is to make it to the big time.... If you look at the likes of Ronaldo (Cristiano), he's got himself in the gym and its really given him the edge on the pitch... I think Yeates has been a really good adition to the squad, and he's exactly the sort of player we need..... Thoughts ? Also, what do you think the likelyhood of us keeping him is ? If i was him, i'd want to be involved with a club thats in the situation we've found ourself in. No doubt if he proves himself, MM will offer him enough money to keep him....
OzFox311 Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 I reckon with Milan here and some good performance, we could go after him. I like him as he shows enthusiasm and a fair bit of skill. Does need to bulk up a bit more but he will be very useful if we can keep him in the years to come... It will be good in a few years time now we have money, we have some nice talent and some good investments and we finally go after what is our destiny....
Milan Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 Good delivery, good skill, will mature with time. Shouldn't be starting every game, he is one that needs time and support.
Ric Flair Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 So far, so good. 2 games, 1 goal and 1 assist. Keep up a record similar to that and he'll be a world beater.
DB11 Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 We need a right mid and he has scored more goals than Josh Low Keep him
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 Good delivery, good skill, will mature with time. Shouldn't be starting every game, he is one that needs time and support. That cross for Mcauley second against Ipswich was textbook, wipped in Guppy style, really great goal. He's off to a good start, a goal and an assist. Do you think there are people at the club who would advise players to bulk up and improve upper body strength (which along with pace is vital getting beyond defenders), or do you think they do it on their own accord? Can't really imagine it being on RK's player specification list!
Geo V Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 I think Yeates signed a new deal at the start of this season so he must be highly thought of as Spurs just keep loaning him out for his development. I personally have yet to see him play but I am told by Spurs fans that he is a useful fringe player who if given the chance would do OK in the first team so if he is good enough for them I suppose he is good enough for us!

Ric Flair Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 He has been nurtured from the Jordan Stewart School of Polo Necks though.
The People's Hero Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 The acid test for me is whether he shows his face in the Swan and Rushes for too much to drink beforehand and then only leaves the pub at 5 to 3, TPH style, refusing to hurry himself. If he does that, he can stay. Ironically, he'd probably be kicked out. In many ways, he can't win. Chin chin! Cheers! Bish bash bosh! I'll have another please, wan ker!
shen Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 I remember Ryan Smith also had a great start but waned badly after that. I'd reserve judgement until it's shown what he can do over a longer period of time.

Yeates looks like a similar breed, but at least we will be in a position now where if he isn't good enough then he can be binned.

Bryn Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 Good player, we've needed a winger and that's what he is, definately worth extending the loan at least if he keeps performing.
lildave3 Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 He has looked good to me, we need a winger and he is a very capable one, extend the loan at least.

MBK Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 Absolutely. Yeates looks like a similar breed, but at least we will be in a position now where if he isn't good enough then he can be binned. I honestly think he will get better especially with a good target man in the team. Which is what we need. Not Horsefield who won't score consistently. Again his experience will help Hume and Fryatt. Yeates looks to me a future signing for our squad.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 Let time be the arbiter of all we survey. Even Mr Yeates and his Wine Lodges.
Leonisco Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 Overall I was pretty impressed with him today, he seems willing to take people on and has a few tricks up his sleeve. His crossing was hot and cold, couple of decent ones, couple of crap ones, and sometimes he tends to hold onto the ball a bit too long, but from what I've seen I think he could be a decent player and definitely someone worth holding on to.

Sparky Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 im not a fan of what ive seen of him so far . final ball more often than not lacks quality , runs in to trouble a lot and passing leaves a lot to be desired. saying that still best right wing option
holly Posted 17 February 2007 Posted 17 February 2007 i think he is good, crosses are good best crosser we have had in a while, he is passionate and hungry what more do u want??????

He's new here and hopefully after time he can improve. But he's something we have been lacking for a while, he plays with pace and some skill more than what can be said to our past right wingers. Alot of people have picked up that sometimes the final ball is lacking but he's scored for us and contributed 2 assits.
