Jay Posted 24 February 2007 Posted 24 February 2007 this is a battle of 2giants Branson Vs Murdoch it seems that Sky aren't happy with the thought of any challenge to their dominance and are running scared from Branson by tripling the cost of their channels as soon as they found out he was in charge. it's been getting nasty since Sky purchased a percentage in ITV to stop Branson merging them with NTL. could be the end of tv as we know it!!

Our lives are dictated enough by Sky as it is. They can sod off if they think Virgin customers should pay more for channels which are less popular than they were last time the deal was negotiated.

That's the problem with telly today... there's so many new speciality channels that pop up. It means you have massive choice... you can pick any of the 900 shit channels you already have with the promise of being able to pick from another 200 shittier channels in the coming years! Our cable package over here comes with all the channels... we have something like 300 channels. In total, we watch about 6 of them regularly... another 3 or 4 occasionally. That's about it. There's far too much shit to hide the good channels... there might be some proper channels in the mix, but I'll be damned if I ever find one amongst the crap they show. PS: Ken, you changed your sig! Incredible! How am I supposed to identify your posts now?
escape2victory Posted 1 March 2007 Posted 1 March 2007 I carnt believe this !!. We have NTL/Virgin in our house and yep all the free Sky channels have gone !! No more SSN, Lost, Simpsons and 24 Dont worry though, they have a new Virgin channel with programs like Little Britain and the O.C on repeat constantly for 2 weeks. Talk about value for money As if they think they can compete with Sky, the muppets. I was happy the way it was, before Virgin got involved, fook off Branson !! If they were serious about competing they would have sorted out their customer service, which is appauling, and improved the digiboxes, which are ridiculously slow !! I WANT MY SKY DISH BACK !!

They've picked up the ball and gone home. It goes on to say that while Virgin are trying to increase the choice Sky want to limit it. I only have the basic package and the majority of channels I don't bother with but I didn't mind Sky One. I also watch Scifi for certain films but apart from that I don't bother with them. Not interested in all the travel and gameshow channels so I just look for any films or TV programmes I may have missed on the main channels BBC3 etc

We have sky+ multiroom, and once our phone line was disabled for a month as i couldn't afford the bill so the bastards at sky charged me for two sky boxes at £40 each in stead of the £50 (apparently they think if its conneced to your phone line, you can't give sky to a neighbor for half price) . IF I COULD AFFORD THAT I WOULDN'T BE IN THIS SITUATION, no compassion.

I have seen my bill change to Virgin and my channels change but havent been bothered to see whats been going on ! So far I am missing Sky Sports News and Sky One. Both have there uses as I like watching Scrubs when its on and Im in and SSN is quality for upto dat einfo although if you leave the channel on for an hour you are more than likely to hear the same crap about 10 times. At least we snuck in the MM momentous press conference!! I cant see that anymore channels have been taken off apart from Sky News. The barstewards.

Don't remember anymore details, but somewhere along the lines of it being illegal and it may go to arbitration otherwise both companies will have their accounts looked at and to prevent this they may come to a settlement pretty sharpish. Why are they afraid of having their accounts looked at?
