mancunianfox Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 its on ssn now, please god dont let him end up here Personally I think he's a better manager than Kelly and considering the circumstances he has done a good job at Luton. Should have kept his mouth shut about Amy Rayner but he got Luton up and kept them up despite the board gutting his team and selling the best players. Wouldn't be too enthused about him being her because I think we need experience but I think he will do well if he gets another job.
Dr The Singh Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 I don't think MM would consider Newell an option!! Like Mancunian Fox said, he doesn't have the experience but he is a better manager then RK!!!
lildave3 Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 i would be quite happy for him to come Me too. His Amy Rayner comments were the begin of the end at Luton for him though
Guest Gist Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 I'm surprised, I think he could of got them out of the mess they're in.

STUHILL Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Considering the circumstances? No money, told to sell players? I would say Leicester were in very similar circumstances and RK has got us higher than Luton! I don't see him as better than RK at all. Would be disapointed if he replaced Kelly!
Ultra Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 He was dumped on big time by his board. It's no surprise Luton are in a slump with most of their best players sold. Getting rid of the manager now has probably sealed their fate. Newell will be back in football soon, but not with us!
Leicester Lass Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Any money says Blackwell gets the Luton job.

Given that they have noway near the same amount of facilities as Leicester and that they have sold players for £9m and spent less than us I think that the situation is different. Plus he has one promotion from a division, they finished above us last season (12th I believe) and we have not sold nobody with anywhere near as much promise as Curtis Davies had when they sold him to West Brom for £3.5m.
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Me too. His Amy Rayner comments were the begin of the end at Luton for him though That is the only reason i can think of to give him the job!!!!

Exactly.. he had good players, we haven't had.
dandannieldanok Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Any money says Blackwell gets the Luton job. Wouldn't be too disappointed if we had him but as for Newell MM should not and probably will not consider him for LCFC. He is not a great manager and he always causes unnecessary controversy.
Thracian Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 When Levein was sacked I thought Newell was a good candidate as manager but he's hardly put stars on his CV these last few months. It's not impossible he could refocus and be successful but overall he's gone from about a 9/10 to a 6/10 for me and there may be better options before long, assuming Kelly ends up failing which is still not quite certain except in Barton's mind.
Flexx Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Jose Mourinho couldn't have done a better job than Newell really. If your squad is poor then there is not really a lot a manager can do (except to stay in the League) and that was what Newell was managing. Even if Rob Kelly was the manager of Chelsea they would still win, and if Mourinho was the boss of Luton they would still lose. Its mostly down to the players at the end of the day
Fez of Mahrez Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Curtis Davies Carlos Edwards Kevin Nicholls Rowan Vine Steve Howard You can't even begin to compare it to us even if we sold Kisnorbo, McAuley, Porter and Hume. And just imagine where we'd be without those four, let alone five top quality Championship players.
lookwhaticando Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Another club doing a Sheffield Wednesday. He got himself a fat new contract around the time we came sniffing... less than a year into that new deal and he's been paid off. We did him a favour by making him a fair bit richer, I reckon.

DB11 Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 I don't like his attitude. I prefer manager's who wear tracksuits and jump up and down and are delighted when we score; they celebrate like a fan...... Stuart Pearce comes to mind

Stuart Pearce comes to mind 2nd time i've heard his name mentioned in 10 minutes. I would love him here, i really would.
Guest Gist Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Man City best hurry up and sack him then Only a matter of days now, they need to beat Boro away for him to keep his job and it isn't the easiest fixture to win.
lildave3 Posted 15 March 2007 Posted 15 March 2007 Only a matter of days now, they need to beat Boro away for him to keep his job and it isn't the easiest fixture to win. Has the chairman or someone from the club actually said this, or is this just media speculation as normal? If they lost i'd be surprised if they sack him before their next game.
