00rawat Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 Shocking stuff really! That indian guy is well cheekey don't know what his name is.
Joe. Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 That's my case well and truly rested on Downing. How anybody can say he's good enough for England is way beyond me. Useless. Thank god for Steven Gerrard. I hope people who didn't vote for Gerrard on the best player thread will seriously consider it now. He grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and looked like the only one who wanted to do something. Also, well done Dave Nugent Overall, poor but could have been a lot worse. And we moved down to 4th <_<
Thracian Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 I didn't watch it but from what I've heard I sure hope the Foxestalk Under 21's are gonna be a bit more fired up!
Joe. Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 I didn't watch it but from what I've heard I sure hope the Foxestalk Under 21's are gonna be a bit more fired up! Thracian you'll have us playing like Brazil...
Daggers Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 I'm betting a quid on "they're an honest bunch of lads". It was frighteningly similar Gerrard and Nugent are the only two players with a rating of over 6.0 That's nonsense - Gerrard played for the shirt, as did Lennon whereas the rest were children on a pitch. Cole was a disgrace...Rooney was nothing short of shocking and Richards had no balls.
Thracian Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 Thracian you'll have us playing like Brazil... So long as you mean the old Brazil!
Milky Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 Andy gone on the Apprentice. you bastard! i've recorded that as far as England are concerned, the lack of energy in the first half really frustrated me, gerrard got us out of jail.
Daggers Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 We want McClaren out We want McClaren out We want McClaren out We want McClaren out...
lookwhaticando Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 It was frighteningly similar Why am I not surprised? Oh yeah... that's right... it's all down to Les Reed. The slapheaded tossfart. That's nonsense - Gerrard played for the shirt, as did Lennon whereas the rest were children on a pitch. Cole was a disgrace...Rooney was nothing short of shocking and Richards had no balls. I'm just reporting what I read. I didn't fancy forking out $45 (22 quid) to see the mighty Andorra... I'd be interested to see a more elaborate rating of the performance... clearly you're not overly impressed by 90% of the team today...
Daggers Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 I'm just reporting what I read. I didn't fancy forking out $45 (22 quid) to see the mighty Andorra... "They didn't come here to see this" said Platt approaching half-time. I wonder what the supporters thought they were going to see then? It was exactly as I thought it was going to be...only I didn't pay a shedload to see it
lookwhaticando Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 "They didn't come here to see this" said Platt approaching half-time. I wonder what the supporters thought they were going to see then? It was exactly as I thought it was going to be...only I didn't pay a shedload to see it That's one thing you can't complain about when you watch England at the minute... you know exactly what you're going to see, so you can choose to pay up to see it... or fook off down the pub and spend the money getting rat-arsed instead. We're nothing, if not consistent.
Daggers Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 The chants began after 20 minutes...and the boo's began after 25 minutes. Tonights press conference took 1 minute 20 seconds - despite a 3-0 win - and then the Ginger one stomped off. Not a great night for the England football team. Whereas NI are taking Championship players and making them look like world beaters it seems as though McClaren is taking potential world beaters and making them look like Championship players. What an awful game to watch.
Milky Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 McClaren has just walked into the press conference and said something along the lines of "print what you like" then walked straight out again!
lookwhaticando Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 I wonder if Max Clifford taught him that trick?
Poakey Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 Dont know about you lot but if i got loads of stick and knew i was shit at my job then i'd leave especially if i knew i wasnt wanted, never mind if the whole country hated me and wanted me out of my job.If i was Mc Claren i'd quit,i know he'd lose a few (hundred thousand) quid but....mmmm then again, yeah i'd stay!
Mort Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 No mention of "grit"... post match but plenty of refrences to "character" thats a new one! Dont know about you lot but if i got loads of stick and knew i was shit at my job then i'd leave especially if i knew i wasnt wanted, never mind if the whole country hated me and wanted me out of my job.If i was Mc Claren i'd quit,i know he'd lose a few (hundred thousand) quid but....mmmm then again, yeah i'd stay! Thing is no one ever wanted him... O'Neil, Scolari, Alladyce even Curbs had more enthusiastic support than McClaren ever did, it was always going to be very tough for him as England manager as he was no one's first choice, but he's done nothing to make it easier and everything to make it harder. Not sure that he'd lose that much money by quiting to be honest... wouldnt he get a payoff?
Thracian Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 McClaren has just walked into the press conference and said something along the lines of "print what you like" then walked straight out again! Spoilt child! Pay off? I wish someone would just dump him on the Dogger Bank.

He'd lose nothing 'cept what's left of his reputation. Suffice it to say, his bank balance will not be affected at all by something like being sacked. Not sure that he'd lose that much money by quiting to be honest... wouldnt he get a payoff? Yes. One big fat pay off. Three years of salary at least (since his contract has at least 3 years to run yet). Keep in mind... the FA relieved SGE of his duties at the end of the world cup... they're still paying his salary today. An expensive salary, at that.

Bryn Posted 28 March 2007 Posted 28 March 2007 Well done Gerrard, at least someone fooking cares Thank god for Steven Gerrard. I hope people who didn't vote for Gerrard on the best player thread will seriously consider it now. He grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and looked like the only one who wanted to do something. Gerrard was dire in the first half, far too deep and his passing was woeful. Did you hear the boo he got when he hit that free-kick too far? If he wasn't being paid so much to be a complete cock I'd have felt sorry for him, but I maintained some respect because judging by the look on his face, he knew damn well that he deserved that booing, they all did. In the second half, at the start he was still too deep but his first goal was a quality finish, and his second was archetypal Steven Gerrard - simple passing, give and go, superb charging run into the box, great touch and a sublime finish. If he was like that 9 times out of 10 rather than 1 time out of 10, he truly would be a world class player. I'm going to do something odd here. I'm going to defend (to some extent) Steve McLaren. I don't feel his pre-match tactics were bad. He told them to get the ball down, play it down the flanks and get the crosses in, which is usually enough to see off a team like Andorra. It didn't come off, and he spent most of the first half trying to remedy it by pushing men forward. Now he should have realised before the game that we really didn't need 4 at the back, in fact 2 would probably have sufficed, but nevertheless at least he tried. * At half time, he obviously said something right. They came out with the high tempo and sharp passing, and above all movement that they needed to dominate the game and comfortably win. His substitutions were good, a masterstroke in taking the brave decision to take off a completely ineffectual Wayne Rooney, and Dyer and Defoe looked more effective to me. * * I still want him sacked, he is not good enough and the errors in his starting gameplan (slow tempo and too much defence) were obvious. However, the players badly let him down in the first half, and continually let him down as much as he lets us down. So tonight, surprisingly since the first half was awful and we underachieved against a team full of part timers, I have a shred of respect, a very small shred, for Steve McClaren.

If he was like that 9 times out of 10 rather than 1 time out of 10, he truly would be a world class player. The fans were booing everytime we went forward and didn't score. They weren't individually blaming Gerrard. Gerrard is most definitely a world class player and he's like it much more than 1/10. He's England's best player and we need him playing in that centre of midfield with Hargreaves perhaps, doing what he does best.
Daggers Posted 29 March 2007 Posted 29 March 2007 Gerrard was dire in the first half, far too deep and his passing was woeful... ...but then he sent a pass astray, got roundly boo'd and you could see him physically say '**** this'...and he legged it to fight for the ball back and won a corner. From that point on he stuck his head up and decided to start taking the game rather than being a by-stander. Some, like the idiots on the left wing, never got that attitude all game.
Phube Posted 29 March 2007 Posted 29 March 2007 Thank God I saw the 300 last night... great film, loads of attacking and 'characters' literally dying for the cause!!
