Tubes Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 after derby thrash us and we lose the bragging rights then i believe his head will roll
BartonFox Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 Good thread this, not too many dunderheids yapping in with daft suggestions or other guff. Mike Newall is not someone I am against nor am I for him, which probably means he would be an ideal manager. I think he would inject something to the squad and he would have something Kelly will never get and that is respect. He has played the game and won trophies and he has done his managerial work at the dog end of the leagues earning the right to progress as he did. I wish more would speak out like him and I have to applaud him for that contract clause, no wonder he was so out spoken over bungs, he was doing it legally One thing we all agree on is Kelly is a busted flush and has to be ditched pronto.

Geo V Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 It must be a difficult one for MM because it was less than a couple of months ago that he was quoted as saying that "Rob has had no financial support and we must back him". Im sure even he has had a change of opinion on RK but I think the time has come to start the "Kelly Out" chants at against Derby regardless of the scoreline. That could be what MM needs to justify his decision to sack him so soon after saying that he should back him. Its never nice to have to resort to this as its a kick in the knads to a man that helped us last season but the longer this drags on the worse it will be for our club. Ive said this many times before but getting a new boss in now can have a huge impact on next season. It will give him a couple of months to asess the squad for starters so he will know who he needs to punt out during the summer, it will galvanize the squad to secure the few points we need to stay up although we should be OK already and importantly, not only can he size up next seasons potential targets but he can start discussing pre-contract deals with players who are OOC this summer. He can also broker some other deals now because its common knowledge every season come the opening of the transfer window that many deals were done and agreed months earlier but the news wasnt made public for obvious reasons. RK OUT NOW

RK OUT NOW You're right, but I don't think it should be down to the fans to decide whetehr Kelly goes or not. Mandaric runs this football club and is successful at doing so in the past. Our fans have shown to be fairly clueless at times, not all the time but there have been times when we've been silly. Mandaric must know Kelly isn't the right man for the job, irrespective of what the fans think. That's the bottom line, I don't believe too much in chairman worrying too much what the fans think. Ok, we're the customers and the paying public but he's the man in charge and he should be trusted to do what's right. He'll get rid, no doubts about it. Just when that time comes, is still slightly unclear. I know i'm contradicting myself after starting this thread, but I want Milan to be seen to taking charge here and not down to the fans say so.

Just when that time comes, is still slightly unclear. I must admit when MM came in I thought he would bring his own man in straight-away. However, due to the delay in coming in any new manager couldnt sign any players on a permanent basis so maybe he decided to hold fire. My problem is ( too many to list) that MM may look at the following... - RK saved us from possible relegation last season - He has had very little money to spend in the transfer market - The fans dont seem to be anti-Kelly at games and are generally quite supportive - People close to the club may be singing his praises as a coach who hasnt had any support. People like The Birch was saying this kind of stuff on the Moan in. - He has had no reserve side to build up the fitness of his squad - He couldnt even get any loanees in until he sold one of our better midfielders for pennies to Watford (I`d rather have kept him ahead of AJ or Hughes BTW) Now if you look at it like that maybe MM will think RK has done well to KEEP US UP! Im obviously not saying that RK should stay because I think he is punching way above his weight and being a good coach means feck all when it comes to management. I think the time has come for us to not just to moan on these forums and actually let MM know what we think and get rid as soon as possible.

It's paramount we let Mandaric know exactly what we think of Nob on Friday.
Flynny Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 Are we not due a good month now, though? Before I'd have expected him to turn things around, but March was probably our easiest run of fixtures, and the coming games are going to be some of the hardest. And even when we were losing before, the defence hasn't been as utterly shocking as these past couple of games. I don't see him putting together another good run before now and the end of the season, and since decent runs that are reliant on a bit of luck are all he's good at, yeah, his time's up.

Mandaric is a shrewd business man, I think this is his fifth football club and he is still a rich man. How many business men have sank all their money into one club and got nowhere - just look at Heyward(?) at Wolves. He knows what he needs to do. If he sacked RK as soon as he came in he would have to pay him even more compensation, but if he lets him have a bad run of games he can reduce the amount of compensation as he will say he is not up to the job. The fans will also be on the managers back and therefore Milan is the hero and not the villan by getting rid of him. MM does like managers with a profile who have the ability to attract decent players. Yes he picked a few knobs at pompey until he got it right with Harry. But I am sure he will have learnt from this and want to do a better job this time round. The fans will be a consideration but at the end of the day its Milans money and he will do with it as he wishes.

Football's generally not like that it'll be one years pay whenever he goes unless he decides to offer to go or someone offers him a better job
Ric Flair Posted 3 April 2007 Author Posted 3 April 2007 Football's generally not like that it'll be one years pay whenever he goes unless he decides to offer to go or someone offers him a better job Correct. Given the fact Nob is on a 1 year rolling contract, we'll always have to pay him the same amount of compensation whilst he's on that contract. It's well worth the money though to get rid.
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 Correct. Given the fact Nob is on a 1 year rolling contract, we'll always have to pay him the same amount of compensation whilst he's on that contract. It's well worth the money though to get rid. It wont be that much will it, I think half the reason he was appointed was because he was cheap and he was given a one year rolling deal as he was unproven and the club knew he might not be able to hack it long term.

I guess we will never know the truth but rumour has it that it's a £250K/year the rolling part was actually published at the time.
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 £250k is hardly top bucks in football terms though is it!
davieG Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 £250k is hardly top bucks in football terms though is it! Well it was for us before MM turned up on the doorstep, getting on for enough to bankrupt us I would have thought.
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 Well it was for us before MM turned up on the doorstep, getting on for enough to bankrupt us I would have thought. Perhaps that would have been the best thing all round, putting us out of our misery!
Stevosevic Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 i very much doubt RK is on 250k a year. how many managers are paid more than players? i would imagine he is on about 100k a year.
Phlashman Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 Kelly signed a one year contract on April 14th last year maybe Milan is just waiting for the contract to be up and then choose not to renew it.
potter3 Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 Kelly signed a one year contract on April 14th last year maybe Milan is just waiting for the contract to be up and then choose not to renew it. Argh!
