LCFC V Derby Pre-match Chit & chat

I fear for McAuley.... if we ship another bunch of goals, he might be seen as part of the problem (someone usually has to pay, just as Nissa) - and another defensive rotation will take place. :sick:

On the other hand, I'm convinced his absence has cost us dearly and his return will see a tightening of the defence. :thumbup:

I reckon we'll nick it.... 4-0. lol

:ph34r:

He'd be a real pratt to use McAuley if he's not ready. Nils or Stearman are the obvious replacements. Stearman is simplest because it means Maybury reverts to his best position at right back and Nils can resume at left-back.

But, Nils had a bit of a nightmare at Derby. Whatever, I wouldn't want any sodding right backs on the left and might be tempted to play the following modible 4-4-1-1:

Logan;

Maybury, Stearman, Kisnorbo, Mattock;

Newton, King, Tiatto, Porter;

Hume;

Hammond/Fryatt.

There's more than our usual attacking potential in that lot yet there's a bit more mobility and fitness in the side than usual and a little extra protection for what might be a vulnerable back line.

The good thing is that the back four I've gone for would be able to push up better than our usual line because their recovery speed would be quicker.

In fact that team could attack with some potential. At least as far as is possible with our staff.

Another option would be to play 4-3-3 as I have suggested several times...with three of our four defenders being able to supplement midfield when we attack.

Logan;

Maybury. Stearman, Kisnorbo, Mattock;

King, Tiatto, Porter;

Hume,

Hammond, Fryatt.

Almost a team full of potential scorers in both those line-ups, everyone supposedly fit, and no-one out of position.

Are you omitting Kenton because you don't rate him... or is he unavailable?

What'd I miss? :ph34r:

And yes... he'd be stupid to rush McAuley back if he's not fully ready... we've seen where that's led us before. :whistle:

I don't rate Kenton at all really - except as a passable emergency right back. Like too many others, he's just a shunter really. Not enough pace or presence for the main line.

Didn't Kelly say he could of been ready for Stoke ? :dunno:

He might have done... probably not though, that'd have wound Lawrie Sanchez up no end. :ph34r:

He's not fit... the Derby game has 'come too soon' for him.

So... more misfits, fourth choices and square pegs in round holes to look forward to. :thumbup:

Sometimes when they line up at kick-off, you wonder if it's a case of the deaf being lead by the blind. :mellow:

Latest From OS

Rob Kelly will have a near fully fit squad to choose from when Derby County are the visitors to the Walkers Stadium on Friday afternoon (2:45pm). The Leicester boss had reported on Monday that Iain Hume, Patrick Kisnorbo and Danny Tiatto had picked up knocks in the 4-2 defeat at the hands of Stoke.

But Kelly confirmed that the trio were now back on the training pitches and available for the Good Friday clash against Billy Davies' men.

He said: "Patrick, Danny and Iain have all trained today (Thursday) and have come through it without any reaction. That's good news for us as we prepare for the Derby game."

But the news wasn't as positive regarding the fitness of Gareth McAuley (hamstring) going into the clash.

He added: "The game is going to come too early for Gareth. He has come out and done a little bit of work with us on the pitches, but he's not quite right yet.

"This weekend will be a little bit too early for him, but he's not too far away now."

"We are obviously still without Paddy McCarthy. He dislocated his shoulder in training at the end of January and will be out for the rest of the season.

"But considering that we are in the later stages of the campaign, we are in a fairly healthy state."

Mate not even RK can come to that conclusion, especially as we seem to be shipping more goals when McAuley DOESNT play!

Same here, It's because I haven't been down for a few weeks. I just hope we put a good show on, especially with it being on Sky!
