Openers need replacing next year in my opinion.

Patel is a good player having a bad season. Budinger is improving year on year.

Who is a better realistic option for that gig? Not convinced that's why we've signed Davey.

This has the feel of the Middlesex home game. Lose early  wickets in our reply and we'll be under huge pressure.

Why did we start the morning session with not the best spin bowlers, this effectively gave them another 100 runs? Surely the quickies could have finished them off sooner

Patel is a fair point but I don’t think we have got time for budinger to improve. Davey is obvious one option. Maybe Harris could return? I assume with handscombe returning we would probably want to keep VDB so may have to to be domestic option?

Not great to be hanging on for the draw already, but we're likely to lose at least 3 sessions if the weather forecast is anything to go by- just make sure we don't get skittled today.

Really weird.

Yeah what would the thinking be with bowling them?

The skittling is well under way. We seem to struggle badly under scoreboard pressure.

Going to be hard for Gloucester to beat us providing we avoid the follow on. Looks likely plenty of overs will be lost to rain and as long as we make Gloucester bat again they are not going to have plenty of sessions in which to bowl us out.

Northants batting well. Hopefully that game mirrors ours for the four days and with play lost finishes a draw. Given we’ve never been in a strong position and Glamorgan will have fancied the lot after their batting, two drawn games would be a nice result.

I would argue that this last session is the most important of the season. Runs simply do not matter, just keep wickets

I agree. 4 down or even 5 overnight and the draw becomes clearly the most likely result.

A couple of bonus points before the end of play would be nice. But yes, we need a big partnership.

Ffs Hill was nowhere near that.

Shocker. Couldn't even make out how he was out live. Awful that. He has no look at all. Really good knock.

Right so, given the rain situation.

• If Derbyshire v Middlesex is a draw (strong possibility given the forecast). The maximum Derbyshire can get (and therefore Middlesex) is 201.

• We currently have 196 including the one bonus point from this innings. Therefore a draw would see us promoted.

• If we draw but one of Derbyshire and Middlesex win, a draw would leave us needing to get 6 more points (including any more bonus points from this innings).

So basically avoiding a capitulation this afternoon has been decisive 😬😬😬
