The Stig Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 do you like the idea of women commentators on match of the day, Jaqui Oatley will become the first on saturday when she does the Fullham Blackburn game, for me so long as she's good it doesn't matter what sex she is, dave basset has already said he hates the idea but he's a twat anyway
Brainy Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 It won't sound right, for me it won't. As long as she can commentate and do the job, i'm fine with it.
Milky Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 As long as they are good, have a voice that is easy to listen too, and have great knowledge of the game, i have no problem with it at all.

Stevosevic Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 by all means they are fine to commentate on the womens game, but not mens. lets keep the mens game of football and the womens game of football seperate. should we start having mixed teams as well?
Leonisco Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 by all means they are fine to commentate on the womens game, but not mens. lets keep the mens game of football and the womens game of football seperate. should we start having mixed teams as well? no! Not for me. Why not? What's so wrong with it? If she knows her football and is easy to listen to I can't see a problem at all.
Finnegan Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 by all means they are fine to commentate on the womens game, but not mens. lets keep the mens game of football and the womens game of football seperate. should we start having mixed teams as well? This post was meant to be a joke, I preusme?
Ajax Treesdown Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 Jacqui Oatley will become Match of the Day’s First Lady when she takes the microphone for a Barclays Premiership game this weekend. Oatley, 32, will be the first woman commentator in the 43-year history of the progamme, as exclusively reported in Sports Agenda yesterday. She will commentate on the game between Fulham and Blackburn. Her call-up has caused a stir among rival commentators, who claim that Jacqui has leapfrogged them because of her novelty value.
Geo V Posted 20 April 2007 Posted 20 April 2007 They are OK for womens football matches aka comedy but I dont think women as commentators for mens footy is right simply because it would sound right. I would accept young Gaby over jug ears on the analysis front and would also accept (PMSL Im judge and jury now) female reporters asking the questions to the players/managers post and pre-match but not for commentators. Actually, or football officials. I`ll cower in the corner now whilst I get attacked by the women who are members of this site.
Guest Gist Posted 20 April 2007 Posted 20 April 2007 I don't see the problem, as long as she does a good job. Whether she is female or not it shouldn't make a difference IMO.
Lord Nibblington Posted 20 April 2007 Posted 20 April 2007 She can't be any worse than half of the morons they have doing the commentry these days.
The People's Hero Posted 20 April 2007 Posted 20 April 2007 She can't be any worse than half of the morons they have doing the commentry these days. Hurrah! The return of Nibbles. How goes it sir? Assume you and the better half are well?
Lord Nibblington Posted 20 April 2007 Posted 20 April 2007 Hurrah! The return of Nibbles. How goes it sir? Assume you and the better half are well? Fairly Well. Am tired and stressed though, and that's despite just having a 2 week holiday. The lozzler's doing well for herself though. Bagged a job yesterday, so she's actually going to be a proper teacher and everything. Rather than a stooodent one. Anyway, how's the new gaff? Your car lost its hubcaps yet? And the wing mirrors. and the doors. And well, actually just your car still there?

Quite why anyone would steal a silvery, plastic disc with Ford written on it is beyond me. Might have fallen off I suppose. Also, I broke the mirror last night with my cricket bag. Ah well. It's due for MOT in about 2 weeks too, so fingers crossed. Good news on the job front for Laura, please tell her congratumalations from me. Charlotte has an interview on Monday for a position at Northfleet (ish). Everyone is becoming a teacher. I genuinely fear for the kids of the future.

Funny indeed... perhaps I asked because I knew something.... mmm? Northfleet? Seems like something of a trek. Laura's managed to get her job in a school in Wigston, so it's only about 15 minutes away on the bus. Which is good. The kids are screwed. Especially next year when I start edumacting them. And I'll quite possibly have to teach stubjects I know jack about. They're doomed.
Zingari Posted 20 April 2007 Posted 20 April 2007 no ; where will it all end ? they'll be wanting to vote next

Simi Posted 20 April 2007 Posted 20 April 2007 It certainly sounds a little out of the ordinary obviously but I have no massive problem.
lookwhaticando Posted 20 April 2007 Posted 20 April 2007 Her call-up has caused a stir among rival commentators, who claim that Jacqui has leapfrogged them because of her novelty value. well formed chebbage. Jealous old gits tits them commentator blokes. Variety is the spice of life and all that. So long as they're easy to understand and know what they're talking about, they're already and improvement on Pleat. And that, my friends, is not a bad place to start!
Joe. Posted 20 April 2007 Posted 20 April 2007 Erm, not too sure about it. I don't really have a problem with it to be honest. It just wouldn't sound right though....
