Katy Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 Due to a hit and run incident in the early hours, Welford Road is closed and the city centre is literally gridlocked! I was going into Leicester today but im not now! I hope the person involved is going to be ok.
JadeFalcon Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 yup then some lorry driver twats the back end of a 306 by the holiday inn / top of highstreet car park <---- only slight front end damage but leaves his van ON the road blocking instead of doing what the 306 did and pull onto the grass the town is literally and totally gridlocked in ALL directions.. right back up king richards road aswell
City Fan Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 Bollocks ive got to go in later, reckon it will be cleared by about 5?
Katy Posted 4 May 2007 Author Posted 4 May 2007 Bollocks ive got to go in later, reckon it will be cleared by about 5? I don't know, try Radio Leicester - they've been really good in giving people updates. This reminds me of Grantham on a good day
JadeFalcon Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 am going back into the maelstrom later so will give an update when i get back
Rincewind Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 I'm going into the centre which don't involve cars. Well not travelling by one. Walkable for me. Have to deposit my pay cheque. I'm already into my overdraft. Are overdrafts cheaper than just being overdrawn? There is also a beer fest at the Criterion which I may look at if I happen to pass that way.
davieG Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 Any day! It's a dump, too many people are slobs, dropping their litter, parking restrictions are a joke both in their allocation and application. Aesthetics, Ergonomics and History of pass mistakes haven't caught up with the council. The regeneration group are only interested in developments that make the biggest profit in the short term, not in quality of build or environmental impact in the longer term because they'll have all pissed off, like all consultants do when it's all been finished leaving the disastrous changes in their wake.
Daggers Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 If only someone had advised me to avoid Leicester for the whole of this season
Phube Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 <Tirade> But... but.. a young woman was hit by a car... hence the traffic. Surely you're not suggesting it's the regeneration people's fault????
davieG Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 But... but.. a young woman was hit by a car... hence the traffic. Surely you're not suggesting it's the regeneration people's fault???? No I'm suggesting you avoid it everyday because everyday, as I've indicated has a reason for not going to Leicester.
Libertine Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 Awful. Waited at least 30 minutes for the bus which are usually every 15. Then it took about 20 minutes just to get out of the city centre. Unbelievable.
Guest Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 Try spending 5 hours in an appraisal instead. I would recommend it.
Daggers Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 Try spending 5 hours in an appraisal instead. I would recommend it. I thought spending five extra hours in bed was a good plan. It was.
Joe. Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 I thought spending five extra hours in bed was a good plan.It was. Hmph... alright for some eh?
Guest Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 I thought spending five extra hours in bed was a good plan.It was. Don't rub it in.
Sods Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 i remember missing the derby game being stuck in traffic on the m1 for 6 hours the annoying thing was we was only 12 miles away
Daggers Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 Don't rub it in. I did...but I thought I'd spare you all the sordid details
Guest Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 I did...but I thought I'd spare you all the sordid details I set 'em up........
lcfc_jme Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 I got stuck in the traffic this morning. Took me ages to leave the area around the bus station on the X6.
MC Prussian Posted 4 May 2007 Posted 4 May 2007 No chance of me avoiding Leicester in the upcoming three days. A-Day is approaching.
Cobbo Posted 5 May 2007 Posted 5 May 2007 Well I'm glad news reporter Cobbo who reported this incident to the Katmeister got the recognition. Pfft. Town was gridlocked yesterday morning, but Welford Road itself was totally silent, quite eerie. That was until I heard a car revving and driving very fast before screeching to a halt....I thought some mentalist had come driving down the closed road...more fool me, it was just a copper in a plain car performing some tets.
