Scow Posted 21 May 2007 Share Posted 21 May 2007 Doncaster Played - 247 W - 118 D - 62 L - 65 Win percentage - 47.7% Darlington Played - 35 W - 15 D - 8 L - 12 Win percentage - 42.8% Total Played - 282 W - 133 D - 70 L - 77 Win percentage - 47.1% ------------------------------- I've mentioned Penney a few times - impressive record at Doncaster, where he achieved 2 successive promotions (Conference to League 1). They were even flirting with the League 1 play-offs at one point. They also beat Man City and Villa in the Carling Cup a few years back - the 3-0 hammering of the latter was great. One concern would be no managerial experience above League 1 - O'Neill was in a similar situation prior to joining us, except he had a brief stint at Norwich. Leicfox Posted 21 May 2007 Share Posted 21 May 2007 Experience above League 1 is not a major deal for me, as imo league 1 is the hardest league to get out of, look at Blackpools last managers, who have all failed to get them promoted, Simon Grayson¹ (November 11, 2005 to present) Colin Hendry¹ (June 7, 2004 to November 10, 2005) Steve McMahon (January 7, 2000 to June 6, 2004) Nigel Worthington¹ (July 8, 1997 to December 23, 1999) Gary Megson (July 5, 1996 to July 1, 1997) Sam Allardyce (July 19, 1994 to May 29, 1996) Billy Ayre (November 30, 1990 to June 10, 1994) - LEGEND. Graham Carr (June 11, 1990 to November 30, 1990) Jimmy Mullen (May 20, 1989 to April 30, 1990) Sam Ellis (June 1, 1982 to April 30, 1989) Allan Brown¹ (March 1, 1981 to May 31, 1982) (second time) Alan Ball¹ (February 1980 to February 28, 1981) Stan Ternent (September 19, 1979 to February 1, 1980) A few names there tbh, and Grayson could be the only one from the list in 30yrs. Leicfox Posted 21 May 2007 Share Posted 21 May 2007 but tbf hasn't some Latvian or something poured a load of money into them recently? No not really, he's only bought a 20% share in the club. Grayson has still been on a tight budget (Mostly free transfers and loanee's), although i think he might if they get promoted as he has the chance to double his stake. The Oysters are super rich and have been owners of BFC from ever since i can remember since the Ayres days. Its the fact that Grayson has brought in some shrewd signings and loanee's of youth and expierence and made them gel as a unit playing good attacking football, that i like. Wesley Hoolahan being one, 23yr old left winger on loan from Livingston - He's a player i'd have here in a flash.
